Hpfp core refund question

Everyone that has bought a pump and got there core refund how long did it take?

personally I am still waiting on mine, the core got shipped back to them in november.

I got my pump in late december. I sent my core back the day after I got the new pump and I got my refund last week.

I just placed my order and don't anticipate a pump for at least a month. The same thing applies for my refund after returning the stocker to cp-e.

With that said, you definitely should email and call them to make sure that they have your pump. It should not take that long to receive a refund and if it did, they need to rework their logistics because the demand for these is not going down anytime soon.

I have sent them 2 emails in regard to the refund, both of them were short saying sorry for the delay but no real answer when I am getting the refund.

They process refunds every 2 weeks btw which is part of the hold up.

Sounds about right, CPE is good about taking money not so good about giving it back. I was fortunate that I applied my core refund to SMM. What is humorous is that CPE accounting (I am thinking someone with an abacus and related to Jethro Bodine) continued to send me invoices for $350, I finally asked if I needed to contact a lawyer and the issue was resolved. imagine that.

If they fuck with me, just for 1 day and have me wait for my refund, just for 1 single day after they received my core back, then I'll fuck with them as well. I'll call Master Card and let them deal with the rest. Master Card likes that kind of trouble, they'll by it from me. So they better want to print my name and my order# an put it in front of they computer or put it in an outlook calender. and let outlook remind them to send back me my refund back. Because Ain't gonna wait 1 single day for my refund

Money is hard to make so it should remain VERY hard to earn it too, specially this kind of money

So now let start installing that shit.

Please call the shop number if you are in doubt of these core returns. We are not just sitting on these just because we want your core money. We have to test each core to make sure it is rebuildable. This sometimes takes longer than you might imagine if the condition is questionable.

Again, please call if you are wondering about your core. This is a more effective solution than posting on here.

There is no malicious intent on our part, we are just trying to make sure we don't get stuck with a core we can't use.

Bertrand may have overreacted a bit but it's no secret that CP-e has been having issues with keeping up with the demand of fuel pumps and now inter coolers. There are some threads floating around of people having sent fuel pumps back in December and still not having seen a refund.

I ordered mine and don't expect to see it for a while longer and probably won't get my refund for a while after that. Remember that this is a car enthusiast forum and people want their parts asap. I still love me some Cp-e tho.

no, i just got the email with the invoice showing the refund amount.

checking my email records it looks like i sent out my pump around 11/2/10 or 11/3 and got my refund on 11/15/10

OK. But how stuffs like this happening? Transport damage?

In that case the client will get the pump back or what, such that he can claim warranty by Mazda (of course he'll place it back in).

I'm wondering what will be the right approach for this. Of course from the customer prospective.

CP-e, you start freaking me out. 2000 miles and not rebuildable? It may be a factory defect or transport damage. Other wise I have no idea how it can happen.

Do we just need to prepare the pump pretty carefully before shipping it? How should the stock pump need to be package befor shipping?

Please pack the pump carefully. Bubble wrap is a good idea. Make sure the plastic spill valve connector can not possibly be damaged. Make sure the threads on the high pressure output line can not possibly be damaged.

We will evaluate your pump and let you know if we will accept your core.

It may expedite the return process but the main hold up is the actual inspecting of the stock fuel pump that they receive back to make sure that it's usable and meets cp-e standards.

If you order the fuel pump from Street Unit, they offer a store credit that is actually a bit more than the return itself.

Well this is definitely making me hesitate now. I know there is nothing wrong with my factory fuel pump, but nowhere on their site does it say that it needs to be tested and approved to their standards for rebuild. it just says must be returned within 45 days to receive the refund. I know they are already out of stock on them but now this is making me lean towards getting the internals....ugh decisions decisions.

Wow, thats pretty ghetto and gay at the same time...no wonder they're all on back order. Most people don't order one until theirs is fubar so CP-E probably can't use 75% of the old ones so they have to wait for one that works before they can send out a "new" one. So potentially you could buy this and never see a new one if no one else orders one. Terrible business practice if you ask me but who else do we have to get one from...le sigh

It's not the 45 days that worries me, it is that they don't say anything about working order to get your money back. Just send the old one back to get your money. Seems a bit on the shady side.

Yea it definitely doesnt say nething on the website about working order. granted i know nothing is wrong with mine....because the guy that did their tuning told me flat out he doesnt see the fuel pump failing at all in my logs from the standback or the dashhawk. so if they give me shit about my core its gonna piss me off! I have gone through cpe for alot of stuff but this one has me scared for the amount of money that they could possibly take from me. Hope they hold true on the good customer service they have given me so far? Keep ya'll posted

The HPFP is a very tricky thing to do a core exchange on.

First off, a bit about our process here - we inspect and test every pump that comes in. Most of the time they pass just fine.. Then we go on to disassemble, process, mill and rebuild the pumps - once again run them through the test stand to ensure spec and ship back out.

Indeed we need cores - otherwise if we were to pull solely from our suppliers of factory pumps then pricing would be in full.

As far as core quality goes - We do not accept anything that has been tampered with. If there is evidence of after market internals, rough disassembly, and damage to the pump and solenoid - thats a failed core to us - as they say - garbage in, garbage out - we cannot work with damaged pumps to compromise on reliability and such.

If you have a failed factory pump, that you have not touched - we will find out about it with testing. The way the pumps/solenoids fail renders them useless to us as cores. If you know its failed - it should be warrantied or serviced by Mazda first. There is a recall out on solenoids and TSBs on pumps.

In short - we need working, factory pumps as cores. Its not different from engine programs -where you clearly cant send a motor in with a hole, crack or severely damaged sleeves and etc.
