Default HPFP Lifetime Warranty?

After reading a bunch of reviews and looking into it a lot, we decided to go with a CP-e pump since the stock pump wasn't keeping up with the mods we had done to a Speed6(Mazdaspeed Cold Air Intake, ATP Turbo inlet pipe, Garrett GT3076R turbo, ATP Downpipe, Magnaflow catback exhaust, and Cobb access port with dyno tuning) Around 4-5k rpms under boost the pump wasn't keeping up but the pump was still in great condition and working on lower boost configurations just fine.

After installing the CP-e pump we did some testing and the car ran great and pump was putting out the fuel we needed, however within a week the o-ring blew. We replaced the O-Ring and re-installed the pump and wham bam thank you ma'am the pump blew up. After re-install the car ran for less than two minutes before the spring blew up and separated from the pump and the "button" as CP-e called it is missing according to them, at first I thought maybe it was fused to the center of the cam follower on the bottom but after further inspection and comparison to pictures of brand new followers the part I thought was the "button" was actually a part of the follower itself. The pump blew up with so much force that it ripped the electrical connector on top and the only thing stopping it from flying through the fire wall was the high pressure line.

When contacted about the issue CP-e asked for pictures and then told us to send it back to them. Not only did they not offer us a shipping label or any compensation for the second pump we shipped them, but when they received it they claimed it was an issue with the engine and are not going to warranty the pump. After paying shipping 3 times and a boatload of money for the pump, yes we received the core charge back because they stated after inspecting it that nothing was wrong with the stock pump, they now want us to provide another core for them to repair the pump, and as far as I understand want us to pay for another pump.

Lifetime warranty? Hmm hardly. They just wanted to blame us and claim that they have only had a few fail and that it was because of a bad engine, not their product. I have logs, and many miles on this pump with our tune and setup with no issues. I'll also attach a picture of the flawless cam follower and cam lobe as well as the pictures I sent them of the pump and the threads it ripped out of the engine when it blew up. In all of my experience in retail and other industries I was always taught to take care of the customer. Even some companies even go as far as saying "the customer is always right" This is not the case with CP-e. I'm very disappointed after seeing all the good reviews of the company and their product to have our first experience with them be so terrible. Just a heads up for those of you looking to get a pump from them. Their record isn't so flawless. I'll update later after I talk with Josh some more and see what we can work out.

Received an email from CP-e today, and as any great company out there, they are taking care of their customers/venders. I am very pleased at the response and CP-e will be sending us a new pump. I'm hoping that the new pump will do an awesome job on the vehicle and will help keep the engine fueled well under boost! very excited to see the new pump on and functioning correctly.

Cp-e has handled this issue very professionally, and promptly. Problems like this happen every day with many companies, we unfortunately had the bad egg and one person at a company that didn't quite handle things the correct way originally, however that mistake was corrected and handled properly.

Thanks CP-e!

Was it the spill valve o-ring and button?

An easy test to demonstrate your engine and ecu are operating properly would be to simply throw a.stock pump back on.

Did you take the entire pump apart at any time?

PS - mention me in the new thread, if you make one.

In order to give CP-e every opportunity to make this right before making any more of an issue than this is, I have contacted them as they requested via PM and will update once I hear back. If I do not hear back mid day tomorrow I will make a personal call to Josh Adams and see what he has to say. This thread is not meant to make CP-e look bad but merely to expose an issue and get a response. Thanks for your comments and support I will update soon.
