Default MazdaSPEED3 ΔCore™ Front Mount Intercooler Version2

MazdaSPEED3 ΔCore™ Front Mount Intercooler
MMS3FMIK2
Price: $1,185.00
All front mount intercoolers are not created equal!
Reintroducing our ever-popular ∆Core™ Front Mount Intercooler Kit for the MazdaSPEED3 Gen1 (07-09). This kit will be compatible with all cp-e™ intakes, as well as any other aftermarket intakes on the market. We also include a custom silicone upper radiator hose and a new, larger capacity power steering cooler.
We have redesigned the piping of this kit to provide more airflow and allow more flexing of the pipe under spirited driving conditions. The original piping was 2.25” it has been upgraded to 2.5”. We’ve made this core as big as possible to allow for maximum airflow, while not requiring any cuts or modifications. We have also reengineered the end tanks and core for better quality and a larger capacity of air.

Our ∆Core™ FMIC posted 82% peak thermal efficiency, as compared to the stock TMIC at 63%. This results in a cooler air charge allowing the turbo to work more efficiently and produce more power. Cooler intake air temperatures also prevent knock and retarded ignition timing. Data is recorded from the turbo outlet to the throttle body. Not just the inlet and outlet of the core.

All necessary materials for the install are included and at no point should any cuts or modifications be necessary. 100% bolt on!

616in.3 Aluminum Core (22”x8”x3.5”)
Cast-aluminum end-tanks (not fabricated sheet metal, end tanks welded to core)
100% Bolt On! No frame modifications necessary
2.5 inch piping
T-bolt clamps
Made in the USA
Lifetime Warranty
Selecting a good intercooler kit can be a daunting task. The choice becomes even more confusing when you consider how much conflicting information there is about intercoolers on the internet.

"Is bigger better in the world of intercoolers?"
"What's a good thermal efficiency?"
"Will the FMIC add turbo lag?"
"Why is the pressure drop important?"

These are all important questions to ask, but most companies are hesitant to disclose these technical specifics, if they even have them at all! That's why we have gone ahead and assembled a document explaining not only why the intercooler was designed the way it was, but also how the kit performs on the street. We justify our design by showing you exactly how well it performs as compared to the stock intercooler. How else is one to make an educated decision without such information?

I have the old kit, but just recently upgraded to the newer piping, but my piping was fine when I pulled it out, no bends or leaks, but then again I am no where near 474hp/453tq.

Will the piping for this kit fit big turbo setup in stock turbo location? I can't seem to find anything on the net regarding info on this.

Thanks

With minor altercations yes. Most aftermarket turbos (GT or GTX I'm assuming you're using) will place the compressor outlet too low. A longer piece of silicone or extension of the hot pipe down to the turbo will work. Look up BT install threads and you'll see this. @JasonMzdSpd3;

I have a jerry rigged setup now with my CX FMIC.. I googled it and I haven't found one yet that anyone mentions even being stock turbo. One would assume they include a coupler large enough, or I should long enough for a BT, everything in my sig is current as of today. I just would hate to use that ugly looking coupler that was pieced together with such a beautiful FMIC setup.

I have searched on here as well and I might be searching wrong IDK, but I can't seem to come up with anything.

|search| CPE FMIC big turbo, that brings me just a ton of nator shit and worthless threads.. Like I said I am probably searching wrong.

Thanks

Look man, you're going to have a couple inches in between the compressor outlet and hot pipe inlet. The best, most pretty option is to cut the hot pipe, weld 3" of straight 2.5" aluminum pipe, and bead roll the end again. Then you can powder coat the piping again for a color that matches your car better. Other than that, yes, you're going to need to use some ugly ass make-shift nigga-rigged shit to make it work.

Yes I do.

2 to 2.5 inch bending 45 degree, but the CPE pipes are slightly different. you'll need something that extends the elbow.

It should fit, but depends on the manifold and the compressor housing at which point we cannot answer because we haven't tested it with any other turbo kits.

It's probably 3 inches to short. Just so happens I have a 2" to 2" aluminum pipe that I had to use a few more clamps on. I figure such a wicked FMIC kit would fit a GTX style turbo in Stock location ;-) Great kit over all and very happy with it. Just would never waste 1300 on this FMIC for a stock turbo though.

Glad you like it and glad you got it to fit, but we designed the FMIC kit to fit to the stock turbo so it should've fit 100% if it was in the stock location. At any rate big turbos deserve pics!!!!

thats not true the big turbos outlet does not stick up as far as stock turbo and the coupler wont reach it needs to be extended with additional couplers and a piece of pipe.

If I was stock I have no doubt it would fit ;-)
What I was trying to say is you guys should add about 3 more inches to the the 90* coupler so it can fit big turbo setups in Stock location or add an additional coupler that would fit. Keep the one you have now and add one that will fit Garrett, precision big turbo's etc in Stock location. To date there isn't one manufacturer of FMIC kits that provide a fitting coupler for a big turbo setup that I know of. It has to be jerry rigged in order to work. See pics.

Correct. That's exactly how I did it. Pain in the arse and there is additional cost.

That is exactly what should be included with a $1300 kit ;-) let me know how that one works out for you when you do the install. That will need a trim for sure, but looks like it should work.

@08cosmic3; went this route I believe. And yes I agree a $1300 kit should include this as an option. Even if it's a $50 option. I would have payed for it just to get it all in one. @www.cp-e.com;

Those long reducers are a one off batch made for Evo intercooler set up by some company. They made 30 pcs. They rejected them because they were supposed to be glossy black but came out a chocolate color. They are selling them cheap to get rid of them, price is a steal. Something like that would normally cost $50.

I installed a GT3071 last weekend and used the one I bought, avoids using pipe section and two additional clamps, less clamps = less chance for boost leaks.

I cut 6" off the long 2" side and it worked well, might want to cut 5" inches off 1st so you can get it in there to eye ball it.

Then we would have to test it with every kit and offer every option. We designed our to fit at the stock location which is why we designed our Atmosphere kit to be at the stock location to fit our fmic.

what we are saying IS stock location with a GTX ATP Garret style turbo. Generally speaking most are the same size on the compressor side. For those of us who are big turbo and choose this kit we are saying stock location with a coupler that would fit without have to buy an additional coupler and aluminum pipe and more clamps. I think most people who use other options to me their any other ways other than stock know fully that they need a different setup for piping. Again, the K04 is longer on the compressor or intake side. That pipe is longer. Big turbo setups are shorter. So the coupler provided is to short. We want one longer to fit big turbos in Stock location.

Pretty simple, when ordering the kit just have the option for compressor outlet silicone elbow with extra long 2" side. Most big turbos that fit in stock location do indeed fit in the stock location it's just the compressor outlet is shorter. It would just be awesome to have someone supply such an elbow even if the add on option was a "cut to fit yourself" option.

As someone else mentioned, I would not want to put such a big intercoolers on a k04 which is the only turbo that coupler fits. It's called working with others to make the experience more enjoyable for the consumer. Just ask Apple and Adobe, they don't get along and the consumers are the ones who have to suffer. I'm totally not meaning to be hostile towards CP-E, just trying to stress how the option for a longer 2.5"-2" elbow would be very nice and worth an additional $50 or so.

PS I unboxed my FMIC last night and I have to say that was the best packing job I have ever seen.

This what I stated above as well. I really do like CPE cause murica. I love how my exhaust and the fmic was packed as well. Def would be hard to get damaged during shipping. Or it could be the choice of time of purchase to get the longer only "cut to fit" or the standard one that made for the K04. Should he an option.

It's pretty sad that cpe does not even understand what your saying about turbo being in stock location but just needing longer coupler. They should know this with thier vast knowledge of big power (supposed power)

All you guys will get are excuses. I used to buy all this overpriced cpe stuff and ended up replacing it all for more functional products for half the price.

All in all I just really hope they made the piping thicker because that stuff would dent and bend so bad with simple worm gear clamps

The pipe is thick as heck, the main thing that sold me is the crash bar. It is overpriced just like Cobb, etc but it is justified by the quality which is really nice.

But it is a little frustrating to have to argue the importance of making this kit fit a ATP or similar turbo to a company like CPE. Oh well tis life.

I'm glad they made the new piping of better quality and now include a crash bar so maybe the core will sit center now the original setup the core was off to one side

We definitely understand your point, but we would just like to point out that our fmic kit fits the stock turbo perfectly. This is why we designed out Atmosphere Kit to be in the exact location the stock turbo is. ATP's turbo is in the same location, but it's 3" off from where the stock turbo actually sits. Which brings up the question, why doesn't ATP supply this if no other company that manufactures a FMIC does?

So if I bought the atmosphere kit and a Garrett style tubo from you guys CPE. The turbo as you say sits 3" off from stock location it would just "fit" or is there anything you guys do to the turbo to make it fit since it's 3" off from stock? Just curious because if I paid essentially 7 thousand dollars and went to install everything. Let's just play devil's advocate here for a sec and say that everything went smooth, but when you go to fit the boost coupler 90* from the turbo. Let's say it's to short. What would one think if they paid 7 grand for that kit and the FMIC kit and that one single item doesn't fit. Keep in mind that both kits and turbo were purchased from you guys. Again, I have not dealt directly with the atmosphere kit. So I don't know if you guys do anything to the turbo housing to ensure that the garret turbos fit?

Yes I agree, why doesn't ATP include this piece. I have sent them an email regarding the issue. Sort of the same response. "it was designed for stock location for a top mount intercooler" they do in fact include that coupler to fit.

As a few other mentioned. This a awesome kit and the price definitely says that. We just want an option to have a proper fitting coupler for a aftermarket turbo in the STOCK location. Probably 90% of big turbo upgrades stay in the stock location. Most people that do anything other understand they will have to find or have made custom pieces.

Thanks for the great products and feedback.
