(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Dear CPE Please take a look at the assembly of TMIC and shroud, that we spoke of yesterday. I have a 2011Gen 2 Mazdaspeed3. Something does not seem correct, as the top 1 inch of fins are covered by shroud. I see pictures with shroud farther down and not blocking any cooling fins, like the ETS version Please advise if this is correct. Thank You I attach 3 pictures. Thank You, Kevin Roberts Forney, TX

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score I did search, but not many are labeled as Gen 2 or Gen 1. Many also have custom shrouds, and there was a lot of problems with this early in 2011. So I really wanted CPE to answer me and explain why the shroud covers part of the fins...that doesn't make sense. Also I wanted to make sure that I received the correct shroud for my car and not the wrong one, as nothing is stamped. Also I reported to them that instructions were unclear and full of "typos" and unclear language. I tried to do this as PM , yesterday and they responded but I could not attach pics to PM for some reason. Thanks for understanding and putting up with upside down pictures! Kevin

| Not Ranked : 0 score Mine is also like that, however the instructions I received with my TMIC clearly implied that the shroud does not get installed on the Gen2.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Nope I installed mine as I think it makes the scoop more useful. Without it I don't think as much air would flow through it. I could be wrong...

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score That is what I thought too 1) Instructions clearly left out shroud for Gen 2 2) without shroud air is not funneled through fins 3) I may get the shroud cut so that all fins have air circulation. Thanks guys for your quick answers....I'm glad I'm not the only one with doubts. There are many ways to turn the damn shroud around, but only way it lines up with the drilled holes...still doesn't make sense. I'll have to "Nator It"...break out the duct tape!! ![]()

| Not Ranked : 0 score If you don't use the shroud you'll also melt the back edge of the rubber gasket on the underside of the hood scoop as it makes contact with the TMIC. Bitch gets hot, shroud insulates it a bit.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Originally cp-e didn't make it with a shroud that's why the directions say no shroud needed. Then everyone bitched about the scoop gasket melting and air going around it and not through it so they started including a shroud. Meh, I tried mine with and without. Both heatsoak just as fast but with the shroud it cools down a little faster. IAT's are slightly lower without the shroud but I'd rather have the TMIC cool faster so I run mine with.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Yes we're sorry about the old instructions that state not to use the shroud. We have to update them. There are specific gen1 and gen2 shrouds now as I had told you in a PM @HammerChile11. @Warlord is correct. Originally we did not make the gen2 with a shroud, but we made one due to the demand for one.
