Any idea on when...the first batch would be ready? Christmas? Just wondering theres a cobb intake going for $300 dollars on ebay and there's still 4 days left on it. I'd sell mine and make a good profit on it if i knew when these might be produced.

here's a link to that cobb going for $300+ for those that want a good laugh. Oh yeah and it's used. loleBay Motors: Mazdaspeed 3 Cobb intake (item 190255601420 end time Oct-05-08 1831 PDT)

I am interested as well.

CPE will make a killing if they get this out before Cobb gets their SRI's back in stock.

Jordan.

Do you have any plans to manufacture an enclosure (similar to the begi product) around the filter?

Good question. We probably won't at least initially because it doesn't seem to be an 'in demand' item. I think people would benefit from an enclosure especially in stop and go driving, but the vast majority of shorty intake users seem perfectly content without it. We typically concentrate on the items that have the most demand, so if the enclosure is in demand we'll certainly whip one up.

We're going to try our best to make it work for both applications, as long as we don't have to make any compromises in doing so. I think if we can make the bracket work with both platforms, then we can release it for both applications. We'll know more about the fittment and fuel trims probably either tomorrow or early next week.

I can't imagine what's the difference between the stock airbox and a SRI with a cold air box..

Excuse my ignorance of course.

But i'm extremely interested in the XcelNANO!

Hey, that's what I was thinking about doing. Maybe we could do a group buy on new lids with CP-e on them instead of BEGI.

It's easy to imagine: stock = dustbuster, SRI in a box = shop vac. Also the BEGI box is open on the side facing the hole into the fender where the air should be cooler than in front of the radiator where the stock box draws air from.

Where does the valve cover vent attach to on that? I assume on the hard pipe section, but will that screw with the maf being such a short tube?

i just came back from CP-E and saw the latest machined straightener prototype along with some other goodies that CP-E is working on for us. It is an amazing piece. There will be no worry about fin bending with this product. After all the stories about the Cobb fins bending I am scared to look at my Cobb SRI to see what it looks like.

No! delay the turbo inlet if you have to and get this SRI out the door! I want to stop trying to look for a decent intake at a good price

I also saw the plastic prototype of the turbo inlet. It is the exact solution the MS3 needs. The finished product will be silicone but that plastic one still looked sexy!

Excuse my ignorance, but what's the huge upgrade behind the turbo inlet?

the turbo inlet is a POS on the ms3. Just open the hood and stick your head back there, you couldn't design an inlet that is more restrictive than the stock inlet.

Damn, I never looked at the Stocker. No wonder aftermarkets give such a good gain lol.
My guess is that the stock MAF is reading way different with aftermarket intakes without straighteners.
Hmmmmm, given that type flow (slower sampling) due to the turbulent bubble?

But still, sharper is better! IMO! Faster sampling and better ECU reaction in the mix.

Wow, nice piece! Those straighteners certainly aren't bent.

I was going to hold off until Spring for a Cobb SRI (been waiting since I got my car in June anyway). But if you guys offer a nice introductory discount, I'm definitely in for one of these instead.
