That's a different option than what you were originally suggesting. We've chosen not to modify the fuel cut thresholds for the reasons mentioned above, but if you're looking for some kind of safety feature that is like a fuel cut strictly for over-boost situations, that's not an unreasonable request.

Remember the Labonte IFS-10 you introduced us to several months ago? We took your suggestion of incorporating it into our water/meth system so that if the water/meth flow stops, the Standback will yank 5° of timing from the base map and revert to wastegate spring pressure. We could develop a similar function that is triggered when boost pressure gets too high. We currently just pass the signal through to the ECU so it will fuel cut, but maybe we can improve on that? I'll have to talk with Lou about this to see if that's possible. I really do appreciate your question Phil.

Is there any way you can do the same with fuel pressure? Heck, a user setting for cutting when the car has been under x boost for y seconds and a/f ratio is greater than z?

so if im understanding this right, the idea of boost cut is to "save" the motor in the event of an over boost, but instead it cuts at random and doesn't help shit just hurts

Also isn't it jimmymac that said he saw 30 psi on his gt28 and the ecu didn't cut shit, so if it doesn't cut when its supposed to, whats the point of it?

Isn't it easier just to set a warning up if you go over a certain psi on your boost gauge or dashawk?

its funny how all the people that were crying for this love it. and...
all the people who are nowhere near the point of this kind of advancement being pertinenet to them are against it.

its almost become funny in a way.

i'll add this. in a perfect world it would be nice if our cars came with kpro.... dial in this, dial in that. make the damn thing talk if you want. the issue is two fold...

1. make big power as quickly as possible
2. stay safe

its obvious that safety features in the ecu, if they were set up right, is better than an ecu without them. thats unquestionable. but id also argue irrelevent, if number 1 is in your agenda.

weve got guys dumping the platform right and left for every conceivable reason, and power limitations are one of them. to be able to make 400-500whp easily, like we now should be able is HUGE. and the only safety issues can be resolved with a wideband, boost gauge, and knock sensor.

get the cut flash, make sure your three sensors are all hooked up, and the skys the limit.

and while thats all going on. whoever wants to spend the money to recalibrate all these sensors for safe levels, whatever they may be. can spend the next couple years doing it. maybe the ap will have it in streetuner, that would be great if it did. but in the meantime, i really think this whole thing about safety is played out. the points been made and its about 99 steps down the priority list of OTHER things that need to be focused on with this car.

the guys who are gonna get this flash dont care about what their giving up. thats just the long and the short of it. the guys that are worried about "safety"...well they shouldnt get it anyway.
