Default RED OIL GREEN OIL

OK I got the nano and opened the box and yea its a real nice addition to the ms3. I am going over the instructions and it says I need to oil the filter hmmm. So I run to pep boys and pick up a K&N filter kit for $12. I spray on the oil until I see it creep into the inside of the filter and all is good. Go over the directions again and notice the sheet for the filter says use only green oil not one from other mfgs because it could damage the cotton filter.

Now I think this is bullshit but does it matter?

If the filter requires to be oiled before use, why isnt this being done before it leaves CPe?

I read that on another site but it sure dosn't say that on the part or in any of the literature in the box. I still sprayed it down anyway and besides it sure didn't smell like it was oiled and looked dry as a bone.

And I guess it dosn't matter what the color of the filter oil is as long as it says air filter oil from a reputable comp.

The oil is very light out of the box. It's definitely not the old dirtbike oiled filters I used to have. So, unless you got a factory freak, it's pre-oiled. Maybe go to a store that sells K&Ns and check it out. If you foul the MAF, it won't be the end of the world as K&N has shown with their study. But then you'll risk messing it up when you end have to clean it.

Absolutely, they need to say in big letters "PRE-OILED".
