Default Resonator on 2010 MS3 Catback?

I noticed on your website there's the option add a resonator to the cat-back system.

MazdaSPEED3 Gen2 3" SS Cat Back Exhaust System | Custom Performance Engineering

What are the pros and cons of adding this? I know on my last car where I added a CBE adding a resonator really mellowed out the sound and made it deeper. I assume it's the same here, but can you give a bit more detail as to how it affects the sound and the power?

Thanks

Resonators generally don't affect too much potential flow. They do soften the sound of the exhaust and remove some of the "buzz" or high pitched frequencies that exhausts sometimes emit.

Anthony and I have been talking about using a spectral analyzer to graph out the sound frequencies of exhausts, and see in what frequency range things are effected when you make changes to the system. Mufflers, cats, length, diameter, resonators.

I think that would be cool, and interesting data to look at.

Hope that answers your question.
