Stage 2 RMM review...

After upgrading turbos, I noticed my EWG was bumping the firewall from the additional torque, so I decided it might be a good time to upgrade my RMM. I have had the first generation CP-E RMM since I bought the car, and after having looked it over after taking it out, it is still good, but I’ve had my eye on the second version of the RMM since its release.

I noticed that @Nliiitend1; also has the second generation rmm, and seems pleased with it. I am forever asking him suspension related questions, and I know him to track his car, so I figured if it is good enough for him, it must be good enough for me.

When I got the order, the first thing that came to mind was that the new version is so badass, I really hate to put it under the car, where I can’t see it. I guess I’ll visit during oil changes.





Install is easy enough, but be prepared to wiggle the engine around in order to get all of the bolts aligned. You can do this with a spare jack or a pry bar.

CPE was smart enough to etch the torque specs right onto the mount. LOL.




Initial impressions driving seem similar in terms of vibrations to the original version, but things feel sturdier during shifting. That is exactly what I was looking for from the mount.

This is one of those mods where I don’t feel the need to look @ other versions to be sure I can’t improve on what I already have.

I definitely wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this mount in terms of quality, comfort in terms of nvh and most importantly, performance.

I run this mount as well and really like the design and enjoy it. The stg 1 always wore out the bushing but this one shows no wear with over a year in use and vibrations were less than the stg1. This is likely the mount that is also going on the ST.

I'm thinking I might have to go this route as well - I'm using the NVH free E-focus RMM, but I'm going BNR soon. I doubt the rubber bushing is up to the task for the added power, and this looks like a great option.

I had the opportunity to get this mount installed over the weekend at a NATOR New England Install meet.

So coming from someone who has never had an aftermarket motor mount (or even sat in a car with one!) my first impression was BAD ASS.

Having read a lot about NVH I was super nervous about upgrading my RMM, but chose this design because most reviewers said it offered the benefits of a sturdy RMM but with the least amount of NVH. Being an engineer and seeing the videos of the axis the motor rotates in, this design also made the 'most' sense to me to buffer the motion of the motor.

I love how when you start the car it lets you know it's there. I feel like when you started the car before, a passenger probably wouldn't have even known they weren't in a normal Mazda3. But you get the feeling right off that 'this car means business' but at the same time it isn't overpowering or annoying at all.

Definitely can feel a little something in the low RPMs but just enough to let you know you have a performance engine - and mine hasn't even broken in yet so this could be reduced.

As someone who was nervous about NVH, this mount has impressed me a lot. I am getting less NVH than I expected (but I was prepared for the worst!) but I love the way this thing feels.

I've had mine for a year and a half now and no complaints....I forget I have it half the time because the vibes are very manageable.

Mine's still going strong after more than two years of abuse.

Aside from the issue with the bushing retention screws I had where a few backed out right after installation and which was fixed immediately with a little Locktite, the thing has been flawless.

Got someone trading this , JBR's 80a duro TMM, & cash to me for my Pu stock wheels. Just gotta order the PMM now and I'll finally be putting the 300+ whp to the ground tuned for me by the master @rfinkle2! I cant wait to ditch the slop of my SURE garbage RMM & stocker side mounts. Mounts & Hypnotic FTW!!!

Rob hope you don't mind me throwing my $.02 in here. Installed this mount tonight and I have to say, it's just an initial impression, but wow! I couldn't agree more with what you had to say as far as quality of product, performance, shifting improvement, and over all "connected" feeling with the car. I can't believe the SURE one I removed is intact. I swear it felt like I had to have destroyed it. Because I'm running so much power over stock, the SURE RMM, for quite a while now felt much worse than an OEM one on a bone stock car. The NVH is so minimal compared to how improved driveabilty is, in 2 days time I won't even notice it. Can't wait to get my side mounts in. Also like to extend my thanks to CP-E for making a great product. Now I don't have to wait to get into 4th gear to enjoy spirited driving.

Maybe it's just me but I could not get that bracket to line up following Cpe directions. Tried with the jack and a pry bar and nothing. So as excited as I was to see this in the mail I'll have to wait till Monday to try again.

Weird, mine went on easy. Didn't have to move the engine around or anything.

I only tried mounting it the way the directions said so I will try mounting the bracket first then get the bracket and mount joined.

Thats how I did it. Mount each piece first, then mated them.

Try just threading the bolts in, but not tighten them then when all the bolts are in tighten everything. THis makes everything easier.

Might want to make sure you didn't have the U piece upside down. IIRC the lips aren't the same size and bigger side goes on top? I can't remember. It fits easy one way and not the other.

Ok so I finally got it installed tonight and even after just mocking everything up the mount and the bracket were close but still needed to raise the motor and push it forward to line up the bolt that connects the two parts.


Looking at the mount from underneath the right side of the bushing looks closer on the right side vs the left. It's not by much and thought the maybe the Allen bolt part was the cause (that part makes it bigger on the right). Maybe I'm just being crazy it just seemed like mine took a lot more work to install.

After my first drive with this mount all I can say is wow! This makes shifting feel like it should. No more jerking when shifting down or up. Vibes are not bad at all def there but not bad. And I agree with @CWPMS3; this is how the car should feel and I now have no worries about going hard on it every now and then

No some of the mounts went out without logos due to our lazer engraving machine being offline. We wanted to get the mounts out asap as to not hold any orders. Sorry for the confusion.

I'm happy with my stage two, I switched from my stage one when I changed all my mounts. I posted a before and after video and sent it to Cp-e. I'm not tech savvy enough to make it a you tube thing. I find a little more cab vibes at certain RPM (2700-2900) depending on the load. My cat back no longer hits the sub frame anymore while putting the car in reverse.

Currently having problem with mine. After dyno day it clanks like its broken. Called @www.cp-e.com;, no response yet. Possible that vertical bolt hole got threaded, but IDK. Everything looks fine, but is clanking like a bitch and its not transmitting vibes into the cabin anymore. Fuck my life!

I think removal and inspection is the next step, especially if everything looks OK... When you say it "got threaded," are you saying it may be cross-threaded/stripped?
