Default Turbo positioning on an MS6 with the CPE manifold

A couple of months ago, I posted a thread for suggestions on what to do for my next upgrade. The thread is here:

http://www.mazdaspeedforum.org/forum/foru...i-need-133719/

I'm currently running a Steedspeed T3 manifold, and in that thread it was suggested that I might consider upgrading to the CPE manifold to maximize my potential. I hadn't ruled it out, but, I was planning on doing that later rather than sooner. I had a few other things I was going to do first and then see if I needed the CPE manifold or not.

I was going to upgrade my intake from 3" to 3.5", using the HTP intake. But, I can't get that intake to fit. The intake hits the bracket for the shifter lines. Here is a thread I created on the issue:

Installing large intake - MS6

I guess conceivably a different bracket could be built that might route the shifter lines a bit further out of the way. But, at this point, I'm thinking that probably my problem is the Steedspeed manifold. I bought the swept-back version of the manifold, which I was told placed the turbo farther from the block, closer to the firewall, supposedly for more room. But, I'm thinking now it is placing my turbo too low.

So the primary purpose of this thread is just to verify, if I go the CPE manifold, the shifter line bracket per the pictures in the above thread is safely out of the way?

its not the SS manifold, bend the bracket or buy a silicone intake, but dont remove it completely.

I think I had the same issue with shifter cable bracket on my inlet pipe I fabbed. It's been a while since I have been in that part of the engine bay so let me grab some pics this evening and post up what mine looks like and see if this problem exists with the speed 3.

I do know that this problem did not pop up when I installed the CP-E manifold, so if there was a problem I worked through it when I did the original install of the SS manifold 2 years ago.

I was actually trying to upgrade from my CPE silicone intake. I don't think anybody makes a 3.5" silicone intake. I had at one time asked Matt (HTP) about the idea of building an intake using a silicone 3.5" to 4" 90-degree adapter, and he indicated that he thought such a design would be excessively turbulent, as they make the 90% turn extremely sharply.

But, tis true, the CPE intake did fit since it could deform.

I will see about bending the bracket.

unless your trying to make +500whp, the CPE 3" inlet will be more then enough.

Actually, my power goals are in the 500 range. It may not be immediate, and I may have to upgrade the manifold. But that is the eventual goal. And my current MAF, the ATP 3" MAF, is getting close to maxed out. And my current intake is also an ungainly collection of couplers. So, I was really wanting to make it one nice solid piece.

@Speedie6;

Here this the only pic I could find that shows the shifter cable holder. I just bent down and away to allow enough room for the inlet pipe. Although I am using a 3.5" - 4" reducing elbow with an 8" leg but it does not interfere with the elbow, so I am thinking that a solid pipe would fit with out interference.
