Default Upcoming single vent gauge pod for MS3!

Just wanted to share some CAD drawings of our upcoming gauge pod that'll replace the driver's side air conditioning vent. The pod will come with vent holes so that the vent isn't rendered completely useless, lol.

Yep, very similar to that except we're using the defrost vent so the gauge will sit up a little higher. Same idea though.

will this go over the vent, or will it actually replace it? bit confused, but looks like its gonna be nice

I know you said replace it, but im a bit slow today
so the vent will pop out and this will pop in?

No, you're not slow, the drawing just isn't quite finished yet

The idea is that this new gauge pod will just clip right into the dash so you don't need any adhesives. The issue we're running into is that we're not sure what we want to clip into yet. We'd like to be able to remove the defrost vent and clip it in place where the vent was, but the vent is actually a real pain to remove. So we're thinking now that we might just clip to the vent itself. Once I have some more info I'll post it up.

very cool
i like the idea of not screwing and gluing

i can see the vent being too big a bitch if you need to remove the dash to get at it, so if thats the case, im glad you guys realize thats a bit much too

it wasnt too bad to remove...
i did it with babcock on his ms3 (some independent guys have made these things before).
required taking the gauges and such out.. but i think anyone who is already installing a boost gauge should be able to do it easily.
make $$ cpe, make $$$

I think they mean they will offer it with a better quality gauge.

HA HA HA!!!!!!! (JK, I dont even have the peak/hold prosport )

But seriously, have you guys checked this with the clearance of the pillar mounted air-bags? will it interfear with deployment?

I would hate to be dead, but then my family cant sue for faulty air-bags because of my boost gauge housing.... that would suck just as much as being dead.

**I'm refraining from mentioning the motor mount I ordered in AUGUST that still has yet to ship....***

Ok, the pillar deal has been proven to not be a problem, tons of discussions, and pictures that show the pillar detatches from the top, hinges at the bottom, and only pops out a few inches (on the top) to allow the side curtain air bag to unroll down. It's only located behind the top 1/4 of the pillar

i like the idea here. my problem with the others is that they seem to be angled away from the driver and kinda low. i would rather have it easily visible and some place where i dont have to take my eyes too far from the road

Will the new pod from CPE be angled toward the driver, or will it be adjustable somehow?

I'm in on this if it comes out soon. I don't want to tie up 1K in gauges but yalls three gauge center pod is the only one that looks right enough for me to consider. The circular vent pod is nice but as someone hinted to, it is angled away from the driver. I wish there was a one piece A pillar pod that puts a single gauge as close to the windsheild as possible, kind of like (dare I say it) the Cobalts actual boost gauge, not the dashhawk lookin one, is set up.

I'm very interested. My Boost gauge gets here tomorrow and I'm still on the fence about how/where I want to mount it. I like the round vent pod idea but I'd definitely like it higher and possible angled a little towards the driver so this would definitely be more ideal for me.

UPDATE!!

Well, after many emails and phone calls we've decided to change things up a bit. From the feedback we've received since we posted this thread more people would prefer a mounting location for an OBD-II interface tool such as the DashHawk. The reasoning is that since we're already offering a there gauge pod the single side one is redundant. So, the pod will not be tailored to accommodate a DashHawk.

How do you guys feel about that?

I was waiting and looking forward to having the single guage vent pod as I am only putting one guage in my car, having it nicely mounted in the vent is the perfect place.
I am NOT happy....not happy at all!!!!

You should be monitoring more than just one thing on your car. I think it's a great idea. Maybe my AP will fit. hahahahaha...
