It's kind of a pipe dream, however some of the new technology (from BMW is where I first saw it, they have this on the E9X M3 V8) on ionic current sensing coils to develop individual cylinder pressure measurements is something that Lou and I talked about for the TC3. Still a little ways off though.

There will always be something showing but not always fuel.
I think when you see fuel your seals have been blown for awhile and you're prolly looking at head damage.
If you just see exhaust around the injectors then you caught it in time.

I would be willing to bet that you are incorrect.

If the car comes stock with a knock sensor, it is unlikely that it has an ionic current sensing ignition system.

Ionic current knock sensing has to do with maintaining a steady voltage across the plug at all times when the plug is not firing, measuring the current required to sustain the voltage, then calculating the live cylinder pressure off that value to. This would eventually lead to live, real time, cylinder specific ignition trimming for optimum combustion. Like a fuel trim for spark advance. If you stop and think about it, you could theoretically have auto tuning for ignition, just like fuel.

You can have individual cylinder timing trim, based on knock events. This is easy to calculate based on exactly when the knock event occurred, and where the engine is in the firing order. Mfr's have been doing this for years and years. But, if you were to have a closed loop ignition trim of spark advance, with ionic current, that would be killer.

So anyway...

This may be a bit more clear.

It is a specifically designed slide hammer essentially. The cylinder at the end is steel with enough effective weight to make it useful. It worked great on the engine we have here for our new project.

I called Mazda today. First of all, they don't carry these on hand. Secondly they are $30 a piece... What a crock of shit...

Additionally HATE THE FUCKING STEALERSHIP, the guys at Bommarito Mazda in St. Louis are clueless assholes. I know what the fuck I am talking about, but they have no clue. He tries to paint me as the idiot as if there is no such thing as an "injector seal". I try to dumb it down for him and describe that it is the "gasket" between the block and the injector. He replies "You mean the fuel rail?" I reply, "NO, I mean the BLOCK & THE INJECTOR." He repeats, "You mean the fuel rail?" Only to tell me a minute later "OOOO that is the gasket that is all alone on one side of the injector while the O-ring and other gaskets are on the other side." OMFG

Context discrepancy I guess. I was originally just talking about ionic's because I thought it would be a cool thing to incorporate in to something in the future. It was more set up as a random piece of info in the topic of doing accurate cylinder timing advance tuning, I thought maybe you were stating that the AP had the ability to ionic measurements.

Yeah, pretty much everything else in the standalone world has per cylinder trimming. The ionic stuff would be so cool to have ign feedback loops for peak possible calculated torque under all conditions. The newer VW diesel's have live cylinder pressure sensors that do this too, incorporated in to the direct injector.

Apologies for the confusion earlier, I sometimes go off on rants about things I think are cool.
