Default Who wants an Atmosphere downpipe.

I've asked time and time again and have been told CP-e won't separate the dp from the atmosphere kit.
Perhaps we can drum up enough interest to make them change their mind.
Let them know there's money to be had.
Let them know that if they don't want that money, someone else will happily step up and take it.
Who wants one?

After dicking around with my CPE manifold and CPE down pipe (non atmosphere do) I think it's STUPID they won't sell it separately.

As everyone knows trying to install a normal CPE dp with the CPE manifold is next to impossible because of O2 sensor placement. Pretty idiotic designing on their part and idiotic purchase on my part. One would think two parts designed by the same company would work together.


In the end, I would be down for just an Atmospheric dp. Then I would sell the current dp to recoup some of my mistake.

If the dp is new send it back and get a different one. The O2 sensor placement is so damn close to the Tial EWG once fully assembled it makes me slightly uncomfortable.

Both pieces are exceptional individually; together they suck big time.

I'd be interested. So long as cpe doesn't try to strong-arm some ridiculous price hike.

This will release right after the intake manifold.....

I bought a vband dp from fj for my precision. Dump tube wasn't plumbed in obviously and Was a little short...but may have been bc of my manifold. Who knows.

SHOULD fit all stock location turbo setups

I have this exact setup and you just have to use the secondary bung, but I agree with your evaluation.

you can't always make things either backward or forward compatible though.

I'm pretty sure more people would be on if they realized what this thread was. It's been brought up a couple of times and unfortunately their response is always very bah hum bug. Which is silly because the manifold and downpipe are the best parts of that whole kit, everything else including their turbo options can be replaced with better competitor parts.

I had to use the secondary location up by the bell mouth and still had to cut .125" off the threaded hole and remove the heat shield from the O2 sensor and cable tie the wires to the sensor just to keep the wires from touching the EWG. As it is now I can maybe fit a paint stick in between the wires and EWG. If they would move the bung over .5" it would solve all of the problems.

But I do understand this would require recasting of the bell mouth.

oh yeah the ole EWG...yes that would suck.

edit: even with the entire kit there is very little clearance for an O2.

When I bought the atmosphere kit cpe told me that the v-band hotside had to be machined a little bit to fit the kit. Im not 100% sure what they acually machined off though.

It is a bit tight to get the o2 sensor on yes, but it works. Taking the plastic/metal cowel off makes it 10 times easier. And doing it before the wastegate is also a good idea

lol I had to "machine" my v-band flange on the EM just to get the cap for the EWG to seal.

IMO vband is not what it's cracked up to be, or maybe it's just CPEs implementation.

I hand lapped all the mating faces of my setup.
Tial needs to adjust their machining practices. Even the flanges that hadn't been welded to anything weren't flat, and there was obvious distortion in the form of a tri-oval, which is dead give away that they just squish them in a 3 jaw chuck to face the critical mating surfaces.

It's funny this is getting brought up. My EWG to manifold vband will NOT fully seal and I'm starting to get a build up of exhaust crap around it.

I need to quit being lazy and try to fix it.

in my case I can't blame Tial...its all CPE.

so IMO v-band is not the end all, be all of connectors.

Why don't you just get some other vendor to build one? Obviously cp-e doesn't give a shit about the mazdaspeed community.

So, people are serious about this? I have a friend, who also drives an ms3, and is a very good welder (7+ years, it's his job, he's already done a bunch of crashbars and exhausts, and is currently finishing up an exhaust manifold for me) and would be very much for making these.

So just like the CP-E atmosphere DP, but with the o2 bungs in a different place? Would an ebay long dp, with the EWG recirc welded to it with a small flex part just like the CPE one? I'm guessing that's really the basics, and then a choice to have a cat welded in also if needed?

I would have to talk to him about it, and see if he would even have any time to take on another project right now.
