Default Cld12pk2go's GTX3071 Dyno (415.4whp and 427.9wtq)

For comparison, here are links to my previous 2 dyno sessions:

http://www.mazdaspeedforum.org/forum/foru...58-0wtq-39636/

http://www.mazdaspeedforum.org/forum/foru...66-9wtq-53665/

2008 MS3

Mods: ATP GTX3071, CP-E 3.25'' MAF, CP-E Nviscid Intake, Ported IM, PG FMIC Piping with IC0035 core, PG V1 Exhaust manifold, CP-E DP with Cat, Alky Control Methanol injection, KMD V2, Denso ITV24, Cobb AP ATR

Notes: stock CBE and stock BPV, running 100% methanol with M10 nozzle, and 3.5 gal E85 with balance of tank being 93 octane.

Runs at 65°F ambient. SAE correction factor 0.99 on Dynojet dyno.

I did 3 runs each using a different tune.

Run 002 was with tune V109Y12
Run 003 was with tune V109Y13
Run 004 was with tune V109Y14

The only difference between the tunes is 1° timing increase from each version from 3000-7000 RPMs. V109Y13 has the ignition timing I had been running for a while and I wanted to map out the response on each side a bit.

Ignition Timing Curves:
Code:
3.00	5.00	7.00	8.00	9.50	11.00	13.00	15.50	16.50
Code:
4.00	6.00	8.00	9.00	10.50	12.00	14.00	16.50	17.50
Code:
5.00	7.00	9.00	10.00	11.50	13.00	15.00	17.50	18.50
Results:

Pull 002 Log:

Pull 003 Log:

Pull 004 Log:

Dyno video:

Observations:
  • My normal spool to 20 PSI RPM is 3200-3300 on the street from a 4th gear pull. During the dyno session it was delayed until ~3800 RPM due to reduced loading.
  • I was spinning through peak torque on every pull so actual peak torque was likely something > 427ft-lbs.
  • LCV2™ decided to rear its head and really hose my pulls above 6000 RPMs by closing the throttle and pulling WGDC, which likley cost me a good bit of power up top.
  • I appear to be below MBT from 4500-6000 as I am gaining power everywhere with the 2° of added timing. I would call the results inconclusive from 3000-4000 due to spinning and at 6500 RPMs as LCV2™ is really muddying the data.
  • I wonder how much of a restriction the stock CBE is >400whp? I would assume it is pretty non-optimal at this power level; however, my EGTs were still in check at ~1650°F.

Here is my best pull from each of my 3 dyno sessions plotted together:

It is obvious the GTX3071 simply obliterates the little K04 turbo.

Here is a log and VD plot that is essentially with the same map parameters as V13's tune (only changes to fuel injector latency):

I was making a fair amount of extra power on the street at the cooler ambient temps (as per MAF g/s) and LCV2™ wasn't biting nearly as hard as it did on the dyno.

Essentially, the data suggests that a VD CF of 1.01 is pretty darn close to the real thing.

I have tried 100% and it didn't make any difference unfortunately, so I reverted to 85%.

Hey I see you are not checking the "Boost Tune" check box for hybrid tune. It seems that most people are checking it. Do you find that you have better results without checking it? Also I think the person that recommended the EWG was thinking the blips in your dyno chart were boost related not tire spinning. I can't believe the power you are putting down. Great work and thanks for all of the documentation you have provided over the years.

Great results! I see your throttle DBW tables are at 85. Set them above 90 - that may prevent throttle from closing.

Great work and thanks for all of the documentation you have provided over the years.
I have not found that the boost targeting tuning was very satisfactory other than for WOT in high gear. It is certainly better for avoiding LCV2™ than LT, but I wanted to be able to use my first 3 gears and I have been back on LT for about 2 weeks or so with good luck avoiding LCV2™ until the last few days (bummer).

Nothing I do in Boost Targeting mode will let me control power in the first 3 gears. When the BT isn't checked I can use the DBW tables to close the throttle to limit power.

I have zero creep issues with the ported turbine housing. I have been able to hold spring pressure to redline in the past.

Yep. I found no difference in performance with my Forge, so I sold the Forge and put the stock BPV back on.

[QUOTE=cld12pk2go;1362299] I have not found that the boost targeting tuning was very satisfactory other than for WOT in high gear. It is certainly better for avoiding LCV2™ than LT, but I wanted to be able to use my first 3 gears and I have been back on LT for about 2 weeks or so with good luck avoiding LCV2™ until the last few days (bummer).

Thanks. I am now in pure LT mode. I have a 14 psi spring I still get too much in first but I will keep closing the throttle until it holds. I am at 80 percent now and still spin. I will drop to 70 percent next to see how that goes.

PS. I can't Quote properly apparently.

I have personally bolted the forge up on the dyno and see gains. Without a doubt there are gains using it. I thought the exact same thing until I did it on the dyno and got pretty substantial gains. I posted this info along time ago with the standard gt3071 I thought. Anyways good numbers man and I for one think your catback and forge kept you from making 430-440whp like I was expecting at 24psi from a setup like yours.

FYI,

I saw no WGDC shift before/after swapping the Forge/stock BPV while maintaining the same massflow.

From this I concluded their was no significant leakage. I certainly do not mean to suggest that your data isn't valid; however, I would question if it is applicable in my case based upon my testing/observations.

Perhaps my stock BPV is just a "good" one...

The one caveat is that that test was a couple of PSI lower than what I have been recently running.

I had a leaky BPV on my Mustang, and the difference was very obvious when putting on a replacement as were the symptoms of not being able to run above a certain PSI threshold (12 PSI in the case of the stang).

PS. I can't Quote properly apparently.
I am currently targeting 1.2 load in 1st gear on the TRL tables and calling for mid-upper 20% throttle opening on my DBW tables around this load to actually achieve it.

In 2nd gear I am targeting 1.45 load on my TRL Tables calling for and low 30% throttle opening on the DBW tables around this load to actually achieve it.

In 3rd gear I am targeting 1.75 load on my TRL Tables calling for and around 50% throttle opening on the DBW tables around this load to actually achieve it.

These will obviously have to be dialed in cell by cell, but those are the general levels required for me.

Of course your requested WGDC will impact where you need the throttle to be to obtain a certain load.

I have the DBW tables set to 85% for loads of 2.00 and above which means that in 4-6th gears the throttle is always at 85%.
