Default Mazdaspeed6 BNR S3 dyno 400/410

Just dyno'd today! Wasn't sure what to expect since some people say to use VD with 1.01 and people like Dale Gribble suggest that VD on standard Dynojet works better for the speed6. For me and this dyno, standard dynojet correction factor is spot on. I'm glad I hit 400/410. That was the aim and I hit it! It's mostly a self tune but some of the beginning of it was a local friend/tuner. I continued from there and the tune that is running is mine. Boost is a reverse taper from 22.5 psi to 26psi at redline. 12AFR. and timing is 17.5* at redline.

Unfortunately no logs because the guys kinda sucked in that regard. They worked with accessports but didnt log for me... oh well

Those are some nice numbers, I am pretty jealous.

On a different note, I am in Korea right now, but when I get back state side we should meet up sometime. I'm from Salina and am going to Ft Riley, for my next duty station.

Healthy numbers!
Nice to see another reference for the DJ correction factor on the Speed6.

Hey @ fivefingerdeathpunch; what day/time did you run and where was it?

I still feel pretty strongly that VD in default CF + sae correction for temp/baro is more accurate than 1.01 across the board. If your default cf for dyno and VD are near the standard sae correction #s , that explains why the numbers are very close.

Great numbers btw! Congrats! I hate you also.

11:30am Central on 11/29 at Modified by KC in Kansas City, KS. It's the only local awd dyno that I know of. That's where psychophyr dyno'd his 700awhp lol. Guys even brought it up when I was there. I was like yeah mine won't be anywhere near that craziness lol.

See above for where. And no not yet. I don't know if I'll track it. Maybe drag eventually. Right now it's my fun ass daily driver.

Gosh I still don't see it as big numbers, but thanks I was definitely excited to reach my goal of 400awhp on the BNR. It definitely is fun!

Default New guy

Hey I'm going to look at a 2007 speed 6 this weekend and was wondering if there's anything I should be looking for that commonly fails on these cars. I'm coming from a 3rd generation eclipse v6 which was a dead platform for modifications. Other than f.i. There's no way to make power on them. Full bolt ons and a tune yields 30whp if you're lucky. Just hoping Im not getting into another platform that is a pain in the ass to mod. Thanks in advance

Just hoping Im not getting into another platform that is a pain in the ass to mod. Thanks in advance
Read your welcome PM, and the links therein. There's a whole list of stuff to look for in one of those links.

They worked with accessports but didnt log for me... oh well

Sorry to revive this thread, but out of curiousity, what feet above sea level did you dyno it at? I'm looking at the s3 and the s4, just trying to gather information on turbos.

I don't mind! I had to look it up, but ~1000ft. It was really cold that day though. My 2 cents: Go S4 if you are deciding between the two.

But without a built engine, would you still recommend the s4?

You do not need a built motor. You can easily have the turbo turned down but gives you the flexibility to go for more later without having to swap another turbo

True. I would just hate to push past the limit and screw myself over. How is the S4 treating you? It shows in your sig that your giving it a try.

My car was/is the test car. Lol. I've been running it since June. Stiffer wastegate went on a few weeks ago. Hold 30psi to redline now so we shall see.
