Painted my Grill and Lip

Well i had my windows tinted 20% all around and decided to try and paint my grill and lip today. It was all done with plasti-dip so i can take it off. I think i might take off the lip and keep the grill. LMK what u guys think

What you used to mask the sides of the lip of? When i did mines same way u did after peeling off the tape damn plasti-dip came off with the tape lol

i used the blue painters tape and before taking it off i marked the line very LIGHTLY with a razor

i like it. But i think the painted lip made the car look more ricer-ish. I dont think the audi front look a like would match with our car body lines. Thats just my personal opinion. The grill on the other hands looks fantastic.

ya thats what i thought but i just wanted to test it out. Ill probably peel off the lip in a day or two and just keep the grill

U can't remove the grill. I just masked it off and sprayed. If u use plastidip u can peel off any overspray

It always sounds like a good idea to me, but whenever I look at the painted lip I see some kind of parrot fish animal with black lips or something.

Maybe it's something about the semi trapezoidal upside down grill shape we have.



Though there's a particular picture I can't find where I thought it looked pretty sick. The bottom lip was almost pitch black from the lighting, and it almost looked like the bumper was missing half it's face.

i like it =) plan on doing this to my cwp come spring. im gonna do a white emblem though to offset all the black. do you have to use multiple layers of the plasti dip?

those guys don't know WTF they are talking about. mine looks exactly like that but I wrapped it in flat vinyl....hood is next...I have a DG CF front lip so the black connects the lower grill to the lip so it rocks IMO.

The upper portion doesn't come off its part of the bumper. The lower grill does appear to be removable but unnecessary to complete the wrap.

For the speed6 it does bc they have a replacement peice I just can't figure how to get it off should the surface be cleaned with?

i sprayed mine with plastidip so no scratches and i think the speed 6 has like 2 screws to take it off

I've had my grill painted for about a month and after seeing this I just did my lip the other day, thanks for the idea I love it!

I just did my upper grille yesterday. Washed the car and dried, taped it up and sprayed away. No need to scuff or prime anything. Plastidip peels off to remove
