Default DG Motorsports Vented Hood for Gen 1

Hey guys,

I got a little story to go along with how I got this hood, so if you just wanna see the pictures you can scroll down.

I've been busy since my last post. I had the craziest month last month. Long story short, I had a lot of bad luck in March. My life was threated with a gun by my neighbor, but the worst thing that happened was some fucking idiot hit my car. That should give you an idea about how much I love my car haha. I was driving on the i5 south, when a man, who was pulled over on the side of the freeway, just took off into traffic without looking. FACEPALM! I slammed the breaks, but unfortunately couldn't avoid the incident. He got out of the car admitting that it was 100% fault. He was really nice about it but still, what an idiot.

Here is what the damage looked like. It really wasn't that bad, but I was still devastated.

I took my car to the best repair shop I could find. I asked my mechanic (I've used the same mechanic to help me keep this car in tip top shape since I bought the car). He recommended me to OC Auto Collision. They were great.

Since my hood was damaged in the accident, it had to be replaced, along with the front bumper and left headlight. It came to me the next day that since I have to get a new hood, I should at least ask if I can pick out the hood. I mean, insurance was going to cover the thing anyways! Sure enough, they said I could! The only thing I would have to pay is the difference in price between the stock hood and the aftermarket DG motorsports hood, WHICH WAS ONLY $100. So, I got the hood painted and fit on the car, YES, for only $100. FUCK YEAH! The only thing I had to do was cut the stock air tray, which was no challenge at all.

While I was doing this, I was really upset that nobody else had posted how to cut the tray or what the tray would look like attached to the new hood. So that's what I'm here to do. Below, you will see how I cut the stock air tray to fit the new DG Motorsports Vented hood.

This picture shows the now cut/trimmed air tray ready to be secured to the hood.

I couldn't be happier with the results. My car is ONE OF A KIND now. I could be wrong (and I am wrong) but I think I have the only Silver MS3 with this DG Motorsports hood. Here are some pictures of the exterior of the car with the new hood installed. Just washed the car too!

and here are some pictures of underneath the hood - engine bay is looking clean!

Overall, I am very happy with the durability of the hood. Best $100 modification I've made. The weight is about half, maybe less, than the stock hood. Not only that, but now my ETS TMIC is being fed air directly. Definitely feels like the turbo spools faster with the hood like this. I also put in a screen under the hood vent, just to prevent bugs from getting in there. If anyone would like data logs with this new hood, please let me know, I'd be happy to send you some. I think I discussed all aspects of the hood, but let me know if I left anything out! Any questions? Let me know!

Thanks,
John B
