| Not Ranked : 0 score i could be wrong, but i believe the dg is drill on.. or maybe that's just optional. I saw install pictures by someone and they drilled it. You could tape it too though, I'd assume. My nextmod spoiler lip is taped on and it's held up great for a year or more, rock solid.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score the spoiler came with pre drilled holes and with rivets i think i will try double sided tape, im just kind of worried about it flying off. The way the extension comes off the spoiler it almost sticks straight up. Last edited by ZoomZoomVT; 02-09-2010 at 09:38 PM. Reason: MSF Database - Automerged Doublepost |

| Not Ranked : 0 score eh, what do I know? But yes, if it came with holes and rivets then you probably need to rivet it.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I bought a rivet gun at Home Depot for like $15 when I did my hood struts. Having never riveted anything before, I was pretty surprised at the force required to pop those little stems off. Once you get it on there you probably won't get it off very easily. I would maybe try little nuts and bolts instead of rivets. Did you get the carbon fiber one or the fiberglass one?

| Not Ranked : 0 score "functional" spoilers are meant to increase downforce which only really happens about 100+mph. Spoilers are angled in a way that the air flow will be pushed on the car giving it more grip and high speed stability but losing some top speed due to more aero drag. If the spoiler was completely leveled, then it will be purely for cosmetics. In nascar they are hitting high speed consistently and their trunk spoilers are angled straight up. Or in other road racing, you will see spoilers angled to increase downforce, never completely flat or leveled. But i'm not sure if this benefits fwd cars since the downforce is pushing down the back portion of the car whereas the grip is need in the front. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score not saying that was your intention to use it as a performance part, but was just pointing out that the way its angled it looks to have a function other than looks. Not sure if DG designed it with that purpose but yea ... i myself was thinking about picking up a spoiler lip just for looks ...but i haven't pulled the trigger yet because i want to see it in person, or from more angles.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I'd be scared that thing would fly off at 100mph and kill someone behind me with just double sided tape holding it on. That's a different kind of spoiler extension than I'm used to seeing for this car.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Hey do you have a link for that spoiler, thinking about throwing it on. Rivets man i am a structural mechanic for aircraft, and they are fairly easy. taking them off really isnt that bad you would just drill the center with a small 40 size drill bit and then after you drill out the pin, take a drill bit the same size as the whole and drill the rest of the rivet out. I would say punch it out but, it being fiberglass you would most likely crack it out. But for added saftey and security rivets would be your best bet. but a link would be appreciated |
