Default My take on mudflaps

I installed a set of mudflaps (or rally flaps) on my 09 MS3 about three months ago, and here's a short review with some pics for those curious. The mudflaps are made by a company called Rockblox, I think I paid about $65 off Amazon (a bit cheaper than Rally Armor).

I don't go off road, and honestly wasn't sure if I'd like how mudflaps would look on my car when I got them. Three reasons I got them, though... Gravel and rocks knicking my paint, hitting dead stinky road kill, and keeping salt and road grime off my paint. Since I've had them on, I've hit a frog and two dead squirrels, so I call them blood flaps.

Install was pretty straight forward, instructions were pretty clear. Once the car was on jack stands, it only took about an hour taking my time. It came with all the hardware, after a few months it seems to hold up well. I've been scraping the back pair on bumps and curbs, and it hasn't caused any damage to the bumper. The material seems flexible enough to give a bit in such situation, but rigid enough to get the job done. Pics below of the wheel well and three mounting points, front followed by rear.

The flaps protrude about a half an inch from the car. I thought about trimming the rear, but thought it'd look goofy if I slimmed it down. They do a good job keeping dust off the car though, pics below are after two weeks without a bath. I will say that after installing the bloodflaps, it's extended my time between washings a bit.

Haven't decided if I want to keep the stickers on them though, they came with the flaps and I didn't want to keep them plain black, but their graphic looks goofy to me. Anyway here are some ass shots
.. Yes, the left rear flap is a little crooked, I'm to lazy to fix right now.

I told my niece to get out of the picture, but she's 4 and only cares about her damn self haha

Overall I really like them... Take it or leave it on the appearance factor or cool points, but they certainly help keep crap off the paint. Your thoughts on the stickers?

Wind chips the red paint off my gen2, not a fan of mudflaps but then again I only drive in the city and motorway.

Don't like the look of them from the side, but like the look of them from the back and stickers look good.

Flaps look good IMO, although not a huge fan of the stickers

Just installed these mudflaps today. didnt install the stickers cause i hate the design, but like you don't want to leave them plain so i'll be looking to see what i can design for it. also these flaps look thicker and are not glossy as rallyarmor. But for the price i can't complain.

Yeah I'm pretty happy with them so far... may take the rear stickers off, and just leave the fronts on. Idk yet

Those look very similar to the JBR ones I'm running. I do prefer the stiff plastic versus the flappy rubber ones, but these do scrape everywhere. But hey, my car is pretty low AND they toss that disclaimer right there in the instructions, so it was pretty inevitable. So far, I've broken both front flaps over speed bumps. I grabbed another pair form JBR and they sent them out the same day.

I have the same ones, and overall I like them. They scrape alot, especially the area I live in, and they are holding up well. Saw you mentioned leaving the front stickers on. That is what I did. Don't have the best pic, but here is mine in black.

Just picked up a set of these as well. You're right about them scraping a lot. Went to go fill up at the gas station after installing them and scraped going over a speed bump. Pretty nice product though. Definitely beats paying $120 for rally armors!

Both of my doors were getting beat the fuck up when I first got my car, it stopped when I got the mudflaps, although I did have to wait 3 months for them to release them. So I still have a few paint chips from before the install

Yeah mine have been bending a bit too, even before I was driving in snow... I'm alright with it, so long as they still get the job done.
