Default CA I issue

Hello all, so yesterday I decided to install a Cai on the cx7... install went as easy as it should have been but I'm getting a tremendous amount of hiss from the engine under load, and just so I don't sound stupid it's ALOT louder than the Cai should be producing and if I really push it the suction gets real heavy and it sounds like air blowing into a bottle really loud.

I've checked everything and I can't find the source anywhere, everything is as tight as possible.

After 7 hours of messing with it I gave in and put the original intake back on, and everything is back to normal.

If I don't put the resonator I can hear the noise I expected to hear with the Cai oddly enough.

So my question is, is it taking in too much air? Should I be using a smaller filter? I also don't have the Cai enclosed at all. Trying to think of all probable causes.

I should also note that if I throw the Cai filter on the stock hosing (with a maf adapter tube from autozone) I also hear the ridiculous noise.

Any help is appreciated.

My Sri is pretty loud under load...did you have drivability issues or is it just the noise because the increased noise is normal.

It was just noise and noise wouldn't bother me if going up hills didn't sound like crap...I love the boost hiss but the suction like noise is embarrassing and I've never heard that before (I've even looked up other cx7 Cai videos none of them sound as loud or as bad as mine

Do you have a Cobb AP or other means of logging STFT, LTFT, and AFR? That would give us a good idea if it's a leak, for example.

Edit: just realized you have a CX-7. So you wouldn't have an AP.

Wouldn't it be audible even with the stock if it was a leak? Cause I don't hear anything with the stock air, even pushing it. All I get is a super super low hiss when I run it without he resonator.

That's normal dude, the k04 is small and drawing in air just about anytime you hit the throttle. That's how my MS3 used to sound with the CAI.

Could I smoke test my intake to see if there's a leak somewhere? Seen it on YouTube not sure how else to test for leaks because the horn sound that it makes occasionally sounds horrid especially under real load. The hiss I'm starting to adjust to however even tho my gut is still screaming that somethings wrong. Thinking of making the exhaust a little louder to maybe sound it out lol.

As was previously stated, if the car is performing correctly and you're not throwing codes, you're fine. I haven't, and nor has any other member here found any shred of evidence to indicate an issue. If you don't like the sound, that's fine, to each his own, but unless the car doesn't feel right or throws a code, stop trying to create a problem. Just take a deep breath and smile because race car.

I'm actually throwing a code, last time I checked it was p2177...I reset it since I thought it was just from disconnecting the maf and it has sense popped back on but haven't had a chance to run a scan o see if it's the same one but I would imagine it is.
