(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score ![]() MAP is proud to introduce our Rev3 version of the Mazda 3/6 intake manifolds! This is unlike any other portwork offered for the platform. We start off removing the shutter valves and bar are removed for improved airflow capabilities, and as our dyno testing showed, it suffered no loss in the low and mid range! We then fully port both the runners and plenum, cut open the plenum and reshape for improved airflow, then weld everything back up. We always test our manifolds before and after porting to ensure we are focused in the right areas. As it turns out, this manifold yielded some of the most impressive gains out of any of the manifolds we have done. The flow results show an improvement of 103CFM flow capacity, and an overall imbalance improvement from over 25% variance down to only 5.8%! See the flow chart for the data. PM ME TO GET YOURS ORDERED TODAY!!

| Not Ranked : 0 score Not always, but they've been offering this as a service for a while now if you send in your stock one/provide a core. I would really be willing to shovel the money over if it weren't for those still uneven flow test numbers to the 4 cylinders. Sure, it's not as bad as the stock one, but I can't help but nitpick for $700. Whats more, word on the street is that one of the best hard-part manufacturers for this platform is going to be releasing an intake manifold this summer. Who knows, but I'll wait. |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Unfortunately we have done are best to get this bad boy to flow evenly. As far as dyno numbers there have only been a few people with set ups that have really needed porting on there intake Mani but they do not have any numbers to the best of my knowledge.

O2 sensor which is an average of all cylinders. The flow difference is 25% richest to leanest at 976 ish CFM. Which equates to approx 650 hp. I dont know if that flow number includes the head too.

Most likely the actual flow variability is considerably less than 25%(but still not great).

| Neutral : -1 score powened, got mine in the works muahahaha, you can try to get him to go cheaper, but the fact is, alot of companies have been talking about doing alot of things, if you think cp-e is coming out with one this year... keep dreaming, they have no eat at all, and steedspeed which is the other company your talking about i think is still trying to design exhaust manifolds for this and other cars, since people dont mind shelling out whatever he asks for them(this community is small and frugal, no wonder manufacturers hate us!), manifolds have to be flow tested, where steed right now i think does not flow test his manifold just trys to make sure they dyno well(good enough for me )))anyways i think as the only option out right now, its kinda amazing your critiqueing the only person who could potentiall save your car from good zoom zoom boom from random knock in cyl #3... what if it blows on the next drive after you read this... how dumb would you feel waiting around for some unset ETA for these products to release... i am sure they will, the question is, are you going to just keep your car stock and play it safe untl they do? the point is they charge the same for EVO X Rev3 manifold porting, so if they spend the same amount o labor doing the port job on both cars... why should they just give you a better deal? seriously this is why no one makes parts for this car, they bring a new product out and people just ask for price breaks and ridicule it in hopes of getting the manufacturer sees it their way and caves... when really that just annoys the manufacturer and makes him turn his phones off ... but what do i know, maybe you got a forged pistons and rods, and like to keep your life spicy by blasting out on #3 heh... DYNOS coming for sure once i get my MAP mani on my car this month sometime (dynodynamics.. a Mustang type dyno) |

Thats your opinion my friend! The facts are these Cpe has their intake manifolds done I've seen them with my own 2 eyes since I know them very well. It wont be long before the first batch is out. They're price will be very competitive to map's stock ported manifold. There is also another member in this forum with an intake mani all done ready to be sold as a prototype. We also have steedspeed looking to make these as well of course. I know of 2 companies that can port and polish our intake manis for $250-#350, they have dynoed gains of 30whp. So to pay more than double is a waste of money in my eyes. As for cyl #3 and your comments about my motor I suggest you read more about me on here. Im running a t3 turbo and pushing my stock block with no issues. I do compression tests regularly and #3 is well within specs. No doubt #3 runs leaner but there is no proof that our engines blow due to #3 running slightly leaner. Just about all motors that blow are from fools running lean from not upgrading their fp or going wot below 3k which is where the k04 makes it most torque. This year if you read the number of cars that blow have diminished tremendously, and the reason why is because people have figured out what this motor doesn't like. People forget our platform is still a baby not to mention turboed DI motors. As for MAP Im not interested in purchasing they're Mani. Im sure its a good product but not worth the cost, since you can get one done for much less. Im also not going to name the companies that port them for the lower cost. You should research your competitors before pricing you're own porducts. I've ran a business in the past and I was simply trying to advice them that dropping cost a bit would make up more business in volume. Not to mention within the next few months various production manis will be out as an additional option for the same price or slightly more. This is going to kill their sales. Im a very well known member of this forum and I can tell you their mani doesnt sell for these reasons. If you wana get pissed off because you dont agree with me thats your problem man. Im not making up these facts. Map is most definitely not the only option right now smart ass. If you wana spend your money on their product simply because its bench tested go ahead and knock your self out. I guarantee you if someone were to make a poll about MAP being the only option or even if their price id justifiable you would see how wrong you are. Lastly to MAP Im not here to bash you guys in anyway. Im very aware of the lack in aftermarket vendors. I've invested well of $20k into my car so I know whats out there what worth buying and whats not. Vendors get on here to get feed back and see what the customers thing about their products. I was simply speaking out for the majority of the community. I would love nothing more than to have more options and companies in here helping out platform grow and become competitive with the well know established platforms. I 100% think you have an excellent product, I just find the cost to be off. I dont see why other companies are able to port a mani for $250 to $350 and dyno gains of 30whp but you guys cant. Good luck NJSPEED out | |

| Not Ranked : 0 score damn ive been told, thats crazy cuz when i talked to josh like 2 weeks ago he said its on the backburner till the exhaust mani is out, which means no intake mani anytime before xmas, honestly, like i always said, ill prolly own the cp-e one too, im just tired of waiting oh and... where did u see the cpe manifold btw, i live 45min from cpe and am going there tomorrow to get my exahust fixed and will be sure to get the word from them again since alot must of changed in two weeks... i dunno about it being out soon, but i sure would like to see flow numbers before commiting to buying somethings... honestly if u can show me a place that will do a better job that can be proved with hard numbers i will totally take my words back, but from talking to both manufacturers that are making the manis it seems like no major developements have happened in a while since both cpe and steedspeed are too busy with other much more important projects(standalone ecu release/other car manis)... but hey, maybe their just misleading me and telling u the truth... lol i dont mean to sound like a A hole lol, i just hate seeing qualatative data like "i know its faster","its a much better value i think. even though i never owned the other"... i dont imply u didnt get an awesome PnP... but i just need to see some numbers before i believe what i read in a forum, not hating, just seen enough 300whp dyno claims with just an intake to believe the community at large ![]() who did ur PnP anyways? links? credentials? references? just curious, i could take my car to fairfax autoparts and have them port my heads... they irnoically charge about 300-400$... but just cuz they will, doesnt mean they should, since i know they never saw a ms6 in their lives p.s. also if your referring to the brochure they had out ince SEMA 2009 for their intake manifold, then i thinke veryone has seen that, the idividual square velocity stacks, half cutopen CAD drawing, i dunno what soon is in your book, but they assured me exhaust mani comes first, and that seems to now be coming with the tc3 standalone, so even though its coming, i have yet to hear a single number on it in terms of hp or flow gain or anything at all that can be measurably compared, i hope they do get it done though, and when they do, then i think itll be time to speculate on price again, not trying to be smartass, but i think map will be fine, PnP costs money, their charging for their time, not to sit and twittle their thumbs, perhaps while i read about u as you have instructed me to do, you should go see what i was talking about when i mention their evo manifolds, they do have rev2 manifolds for much cheaper than 3, but they dont have as much work put into them, more work=higher price, and i dont need to be a buisnessman to know that, ur arguments do have sound logic behind them, and i think all else being equal another place might be the place to go to get a PnP, but numbers will tell Last edited by leo766; 11-15-2010 at 09:21 PM. | Not Ranked : 0 score my mani isnt ported yet, search this forum will will find plenty of guys with ported intake manis with good dyno numbers there is your proof. As for CPE I have had the opportunity to see things others havent. I cant speak much on the matter but I will tell you this. Yes the exhaust mani will come out before the intake mani, and yes they have an actual intake mani bolted on one of they're shop cars as well as a rough TC3. I know all the people at cpe I have been to their shop like 5 times this year. I have even had the opportunity to run their dyno with Jake. What my point was that the IM will be out sooner than people think. In the mean time it would be smart for the only company providing a ported IM on this forum to sell it at a reasonable price. When i say reasonable I mean competitive to what other shops sell they're for. I think they may have shot themselves in the foot by over working the im and raising cost. I decent port and polish with a matching flow of the runners shouldnt cost that much. If they would drop the price to $400 per pc I guarantee you they would tell these things like hot cakes. Soon the real IM will be out and they might as well throw they're manis in the garbage at that point. Get my point? |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score I will admit that I don't know of every shop that modifies these manifolds, but our pricing reflects the level of competency we have in this niche service. We have seen many, many shops claim to have the "same" portwork, but how can they when they don't have the test data and customized tooling I developed specific for these applications? I (Bob) head up the porting portion of MAP and unlike many shops that have a few guys that do everything from answer phones, to marketing, to installs, to fabrication, and possibly then doing airflow development. We differ in the fact that the 28 people here all have very specific duties. Mine is solely focused on development in cylinder heads, intake and exhaust manifolds, and turbos. I don't veer very far from my specialty and I stay honed in my skills by not diluting myself over a dozen other tasks.... Now I am not naive enough to say there is no way that anyone can be as awesome as us, but as far as I know we were the first to offer this level of ported intake manifold (remember this is not just ported, but cut open, finished, then rewelded) and are proud to support the community with these types of solutions. With that said, I am sure there are some that will try to promote cheaper, possibly similar, solutions to the market. Again, our results have been proven time and time again. To comment on any aftermarket cast intake manifold, I would sure hope that if someone is taking the time to develop an aftermarket manifold, be it cast or sheet metal, it should be much better than the stocker, or even better than a ported stocker. I can't say I've seen any on the market for this application actually for sale, but speaking from experience in all the other markets we serve, most aftermarket manifolds end up running in the $800-1200 range unless they are produced in significant quantities. We've looked into this in a few markets as well and there really has to be a very high demand in order to justify an initial investment for the r&d and casting in quantity. To NJ, you have established your opinion, but please note that it is distasteful of you to post up in our section only to down talk our proven solutions and recommend others. I know this is an open forum, but you are not in an open section. Please keep your solicitations and recommendations of competitor's offerings out of our section please. -Bob

| Not Ranked : 0 score Point taken. Im not sure who I solicited thought since I did not mention any company names that do the porting, maybe I misunderstood but didnt you ask me what companies were doing this? Just read your previous post. I was simply mentioning the companies working on supplying new options in the near future. My apologies!! Good luck! |

I guess that got taken slightly wrong. What Bob was trying to say is he does not appreciate it when someone says there are several out there that do the same things we do and take the same steps we do for 400.00 less. when in reality they are not offering the same thing, they are offering something like our rev2 manifold not the rev3. At the lower cost we do offer a manifold with less material removed which I am sure is similar to what others are currently doing. Our 700.00 manifold has many more hours do to reshaping and coating. I hope you did not take this in the wrong way. Thanks, Chris Burd
