2013 Ms3 vs New Challenger

I was on my lunch break yesterday doing some 3rd gear logs and noticed a lime green dodge challenger coming up in the lane next to me. I looked over and it was an older gentleman driving.... so I thought "Damn he isn't gonna bite." Well I was wrong.... As he pulled up next to me, I noticed a 392 badge on the front quarter as he gave the throttle a little blip, I obliged by downshifting into 4th and waiting.. I hear the exhaust not on the challenger change and get louder as he went WOT so I did the same! and to my surprise we were nose to nose all the way through my 4th gear (the challenger being auto shifted halfway through my 4th gear run) I let off as we started catching up to cars pretty quickly. As I past the car infront of me and got over the challenger was there again right next to me, and the guy looked over with his window down and was like " that thing is FAST" and gave me a thumbs up haha. We did a short 3rd gear pull after that and I was at his rear bumper. All I gotta say is I was very proud of the little half tooned Gen2!! 2500 Miles on the clock FTW!

My dad has a 2013 Charger SRT8, I've driven it and love it, I just wish it was stick. However, I do feel that my car could keep up from a roll with a couple more mods. Nice job with the Challenger, sounds like it was fun.

The new style Challenger's are complete boats. When talking about the Mustang 5.0, Camaro SS, and the Challenger 392; the Challenger comes in last because of it's weight.
If it was a true 392, it SHOULD have dusted you imo

When i was sri/tih, race pipe, internals and etuned i stayed dead even with a stock 6.1 charger that also had a passenger from a 50-120. Not calling BS on your story OP, but just know that the guy was not going wot....

It's cool that the old guy wanted to play around though, seem's that a lot of the people driving those cars won't give cars like our's the time of day.

My sister and brother in law just bought a 2013 Challenger RT Classic. It has the 5.7L Hemi, 6 Speed manual, and a 3.92 rear end ratio. We grew up and learned how to drive with old school MOPARs, so it was cool to see them pick out a new Challenger (even though they are boats compared to the newer mustangs and camaros, no denying that).

With the 6 speed and 3.92 rear end, their car pulls HARD, I can't deny it. Waiting for them to finish the 2K miles or so for break in; they both already said they want to race

Seems to me that the 392 needed driver mod ASAP. I raced a 392 charger from ~10 to ~60 when my speed6 was bone stock w/dsc ON on used summer tires and we were dead even, so yeah driver mod could really be the case if my stock ms6 could keep up with such a car

I'd take the 5.7 over the old 6.1 anyday. The 6.1s have very little low end and 'okay' mid range torque compared with the 5.7

i raced a 6.1 srt8 auto challenger tonight. It has intake exhaust we did 40 and 55 rolls put about 2.5 cars on him.

I wonder why you kept up with him from 10-60? Hmm could it be your AWD and him being rwd?

He would of beat you if you went up to ~80

first time i ran a 1st gen RT charger I was bone stock..got me by a fender 70-120...ran one a few days ago from 60-100 I held him at my rear until about 95ish where he started to s l o w l y pull, funny thing is his license plate read "386 HP"

I know, but funny thing is that we were dead even from the '' dig'' so traction issues were not that much of an handicap to him I guess. Mustn't be hard for him to match my then super shitty consistent 2.3s. 60 ft, Damn that I needed tires/driver mod

REmember, the OP is at 5500 feet elevation, which means the Challenger loses about 14-15% of his power, while OP loses about 5%. Given how heavy the Dodge is, it makes it a bit more of a race. I've run even with a current gen Camaro SS (auto) up to 75 before he started pulling.

Elevation + turbo = winning.
