So whether you're a fan of the EVOs or not we all know they can make some big power. Idk about u guys but around here everyone that has an EVO has a huge ego and act as If they're unstoppable. Today a white EVO X pulls up next to me at a light on a pretty open route revving, wanting to play. So naturally me bein as competitive as I am and given the chance to try and POSSIBLY get that "EVGO" humbled a bit I joined in a bit. He's over revving like crazy and I'm just focusing on my launch instead of flexing nuts haha light turns green I launch at around 3200 and well he attempted to launch an clearly dumped the clutch panicked and I just watched his car buck like a fuckin bull lol and I'm off. He clearly had more power because yeah I could hear it but also because Im barely modded bc money's not my friend right now. I'm not saying I'm a pro in anyway but maybe people should focus on learning how to try and "race" people before throwing crazy money under the hood. Or atleast go practice when they do idk figured I'd share with u guys mainly cuz I'm curious if anybody experiences these EVGO's. probably wasn't a good idea but I could see for an 1/8 mile with no cars in sight so I went for it. Again I'm no pro but I figured somebody would find it amusing

EVGO for sure in PA. I've stole the show on a VIII once or twice. The last time in York the owner tried explaining his car wasnt running right...after he lost. I am not hating on anyones car because it is obviously what the owner liked. More power to you. I will definately agree that the STI and EVO owners that I have come across in PA seem to have inherited the ego with the car.

To me, I do seem to subconsciously tend to believe that EVOs and STIs automatically fast, because I have seen plenty of monsters. But the one time I ran into a STI I walked him pretty good from a roll, and I wasn't as modded or finished even 93 tuning.

I guess its due to always owning a POS, until this car. I've always looked up to them and wanted one. I still like them. I guess I need to remember that most people who drive them aren't necessarily heavily modded, or tuned. Then again, I guess I could just remember that I drive a pretty beast street car.

My only loss was to an evo IX from 45-120.. And i felt like a douche because it's the only race that I've been the one to initiate... lol he followed me into a gas station and chatted afterward. Turned out he was tuned on e85 to 22lbs so i didn't feel so bad anymore in my nearly stock ms6

I had an EVO do the biggest ricer fly by on me a few months ago.
Complete with a massive downshift and then quickly turned before I even knew what had happened.

Also it was purple.

I was sizing up a newer WRX yesterday, looked sounded stock. Right as we were about get to the highway on-ramp he turned.

Otherwise I've had the same issue with Subarus. My car looks/sounds stock so I have to instigate. But they'll never even look over.

VW's on the other hands, any of the 2.0T's. Anytime I've raced them they all seem to go insane. Weaving in and out of traffic, and cutting people off. Jeez, all I wanted to do is roll race.

EVO X's and STIs are ~220-240whp stock; in other words, they have the same starting spot as us pretty much. We all have paths relatively quickly up to 400whp with a decent budget. Those cars are not untouchable.

I can't get them to bite ever when I come upon one. They either think they are too cool or have no idea that our platforms will give theirs a run for their money.

I ran an EVO once. Had me and my buddy in the car, we were a good 375lbs+ combined. The dude in the EVO was a stick. He had me by a cars length from a dig to 110. He was very surprised and actually told me my ride was pretty sick. I had a very unfinished non-E85 tune at the time, about 11 degrees of timing, around 18lbs of boost. I would wreck that dude if I came across him again. He told me he wasn't stock but didn't have time to talk about mods as the light changed and we both turned separate ways. Guess he was one of the "rare" EVO owners that don't think they own the road. Hate me or love me, but if I had @4G63;'s EVO, you could call me a fag all you'd like

Always wanted a Subi and I had ordered the hatch but the bank quoted me 11.4% APR and I walked the deal. Did research and found that the MS3 has roughly the same power band and went that route. Here I am, loving my ride and slowly modding it. Would I like an Evo or Subi, yep. Right now? Nah, not until I blow up this car.

PS. technically I can fully mod it, have all but the BT but really want to meet Nator and put hands under the hood with some experts before I do anything stupid. I love this car almost as much as I do my wife.

I've said this before I think...

but one of the pitfalls that members here (and other performance/enthusiasts platforms) fall into, is thinking that there are really a whole lot of heavily modified or tuned cars out there. We hang around guys that mod cars, we belong to a forum that is about modding/tuning these cars so we start to take it for granted that every MS3/Evo/STi we see (or any other car, really) has been at least lightly modded.

The truth, in my experience, is that very few people - even those that buy a typical "tuner" car ever do anything but a few visual modifications... and then half the people that DO mod their cars are running them on a canned OTS tune.

I've seen several Evos in my area and every single one of them so far has been fully stock. The guy a few apartments down just bought a new STi and he doesn't even know how much HP it has from the factory or have even have any intentions of doing anything but maybe adding an aftermarket deck. Typical of the people I've talked to.

I ran an EVO X at the local street racing event (basically street racing at a safe track environment) went from a 40 roll and took him pretty good. Not sure what he did, Maybe he missed a gear, maybe not.. Went from a dig and he got me by 1.5 cars out of the hole and we stayed even.

When I was in between driving from LA to San Diego a white evo x came up and we started doing pulls past each other. He was clearly modded but I wasn't sure how much, it seemed faster than me and I had a car full of luggage and my bike. I tried slowing down to get next to him to do a 60 roll or something like that but he just kept doing fly bys, I even honked and shit. Then he took off going like 130 at least for no reason and I just laughed at how stupid he was. I was going to race him and I would have lost most likely. That seems to happen to me a lot, ppl just rev and then fly away...

The whole reason I got the MS3 (other than the fact of my buddy with a speed6 begging me to come to the "dark side" with him), was because I live in West Chester so everyone and their mother has an STI around here. Ive always loved them and looked up to those kind of cars because I always have pieces of shit and I love how were on the map now. A lot of STI's around here wont bite not sure why. glad im not the only one to notice the EVGO. All those guys seemed to have seen 2 Fast 2 Furious too many times I guess.

Every car segment--including ours--has its idiots and egomaniacs. Personally, I think the Euro-luxury crowd or maybe the V8 homers are the worst. I've had a couple Evo guys here try to help me out with shit, and the one or two that have run me have been cool about it. It's the V8 guys that seem to get really butt hurt, and bimmer guys...tempers.

Not really.

First of all, evo X average ~260whp stock. Go on here and see a few of them on the stock baseline for proof.

Dyno Database Online (ie. x GSR -> Cobb Tunning, and many more)

Secondly, you're only judging high end hp numbers. I've owned both cars and I can honestly tell you that the evo has a larger powerband which doesn't drop power on the high end (comparing stock turbo with a tune). My dyno sheet stays on max power numbers from ~5k to 7500rpm.

Third, the only way to get 400whp safely on the ms3 is with a different turbo. With the evo all you need is a tbe, intake, ebcs, injectors/fp and an e85 tune. Roughly $2k, not fully bolted with a $1600 turbo.

Don't get me wrong, I love both cars. Just trying to correct your information.

I agree that someone who runs what they have definetely gets some respect. I cant imagine having 500hp and not thrashing it. I mean...I would race a Hyundai Sante Fe in my wifes Kia sorento if I ran into one on the skreetz. Dynos are just tuning tools anyway. The real power should be shown on the track or street because building something for show only is fucking lame.
