Ford Fusion?!?!

Omw to work today I ran into a ford fusion that wanted to play so I obliged. Went from about a 30 roll and he kept up with me decently in 3rd gear. I shifted to 4th and blew soot all over his car and left him. By the top of 4th I had 2 buses on him.

Now, imagine to my surprise that a fucking ford fusion somewhat kept up with me. I thought, my car must be fucked up. So when I got to work, I looked up the fusions numbers. They make a sport model that comes with 263hp and 249t. If I had been stock, I think he probably would have beat me. Who the fuck would have thought that shit?

tl;dr - fusion wanted to run, beat it by buses but kept up with me fairly well, confused, looked online and this bitch has 263hp/249t, wtf?

Wouldn't I see the leak on my gauge? I've had a leak before and it showed on gauge...

In all reality though, I think I have lost some power. No clue how though...

do a wot log and check your afr's. iirc if your not hitting your target afr like going higher it could be a leak.

Already did that and my AFR's are spot on at 11. Also, my AFR gauge shows me hitting the targeted AFR. /shrug

I'm sure it's all in my head. Just got used to the power and when I say it kept up fairly well...it only did for a little while. By 120mph he was a football field and half behind me.

My wife drives a Fusion Sport. 3.5L V6. 265HP, 3500 lbs. Something like low-6 seconds 0-60 at sea level, slower up here. So it's not inconceivable that they keep up a little with a stock-ish MS3, but you should have beaten it by more than you did.

I drove one of those as a rental in Arizona and it definitely felt like the claimed power. Not entirely unbelievable that it kept up for a short second.

I can actually chirp the tires in my wife's Fusion sport just about any time I punch it from a dig. Even up here. So the power is there.

It's a nice little car...but I wouldn't want one.

A little off topic but how do you check for a boost leak? I feel like my MS3 has lost a little punch since I got it. It's probably all in my head but my but dyno says otherwise.

I agree it definitely had power but if you were running against that 3.5 it would definitely have given you a hassle for a short minute. I didn't even know they had an AWD option lol.

My brother's GF has an 09 FWD V6 Fusion. It actually has pretty good punch and can get out of it's own way on the highway for a bit before the engine falls on its face. I wouldn't be surprised if the Sport model actually had some decent power to it.

If Ford made an SVT version of the Fusion with a Turbo 3.5L V6 matted to a manual 6 speed tranny plus AWD. It might actually be a pretty sick ride.

I still prefer hatchbacks though.

i was thinking of the edge. those things are tanks but i can imagine with a modded ecoboost that they would be reasonably quick. still wish they would put 3.5 ecoboost in the mustang

As an owners of both and MS3 and a Fusion Sport I had to chime in as I just played around with a stock looking MS6 on the highway and he was more than surprised that I ran with him in my blind spot from 70mph to when I backed off at 115mph.

He did the typical 3 lane cross over, cutting off a semi and then likely more kiddie driving as such so just let him go.
