On my way to work this morning on highway 24, saw a white mustang enter about half a mile ahead of me. First thought I had was "hmm this is Fayetteville; 90% of mustang owners are women, lets see if she's hot". Sped up and cruised at 80 til I caught up and saw it was a dude bout 30ish.

Disappointed I kept cruising by him. Got him in my rears then forgot about him then he decided to be cool and do a fly by on wet roads (not raining but rained over night). I saw the 5.0 badge on the side at that time.

I wasn't going to try to race him but then I remembered how much I hate mustangs. The roads were clear of traffic and it was early in the morning on a Sunday so I said why not. Pulled up next to him rolled my window down and asked what he had. Said just an intake. I asked if he wanted to do a couple 40 - 120 rolls. Said sure. (Seemed like a cool dude surprisingly).

Lined up and slowed down. I honked off. Brake boosting and honking off means I took the jump (put him about half of my car). I don't know if he missed his shift or extremely bad driver mod but when he shifted he fell back about half a car (putting him lil past my bumper). I stopped going bc race was clearly over.

Lined up again and he honked off. Me brake boosting again. I took the jump slightly. Flat foot shifted and put him half on my car again by 90/100. Ffs again and he stayed in the same position. By 120 he slowly(very slowly) started creeping up. Let off the throttle. He rolled his window down (thought he was gonna shit talk.) and said let's pull it to 150 this time.

We were on a long straight road with no traffic so I said fuck it lets do it. I honked this time. Put a good jump on him like the first time. Flat foot shifted. He stated at my bumper til about 120. Flat footed to 6th (holy shit didn't realize how shitty this gear is) he wanted to creep but his nose just stayed at my side mirrors. Neither of us pulling. Finished that run and he turned off into the army reserve place in roseboro. Gave him a wave and he flashed his lights.

I was really expecting me to put some car lengths on him like I do with svt cobras. He put up a good run though. Never raced a 5.0 before.

Tl;dr

Saw stang
Pulled up to stang to see if it was hot woman
Turned out to be dude
Raced 3 times
Pupu won 3 times
Stang seemed like a cool guy (surprise surprise)

Stock turbo on pump gas..? I don't get how you kept up.

Did the older Mustang GT's (like 2010) have a 5.0 badge on the side? I don't think they did, which means it had to be 2011+

Stock turbo with 2gallons of e85 mix with 93 pump. It was deff a new model. Had black race stripes down the center.

by car lengths i mean one car. as in they were behind my bumper and i was still pulling away, so Yes . There is a yellow one in hope mills i have raced from a dig and won, and a silver one near the mall that i have raced from a roll and one. Yellow one was a older black dude driving. Silver was owned by a younger white dude, military looking. The silver one was at Cars and Coffee last month and could attest to it. chrisattack18 and the2falcon were there to here it.

03-04 cobras or 99/01??? The first year for the DOHC 5.0 was 2011, 2012 got a small bump in power. The 11's can run mid to high 12's stock. Termi's (03-04 cobras) run about the same.

99/01 cobra. No vdynos with e85 yet. I'll get some when weather clears and I refill. And highway 24 is a straight long road with little to no traffic and I've seen maybe two cops on it in the last year. I drive it every day for work.

nice kill either way....my gf's bro got popped for pre arranged street racing on 24 about 18 months ago... i take it easy on that road for that reason alone.

Thanks for that heads up djern. I'll keep that in mind now and return the favor - highway 210 is becoming locked down with cops bc there have been pre arranged street racing once a month. So be careful if ever out there.

The 99/01 cobras are anywhere from mid to high 13's. Big difference from a termi or 5.0, about a second to a second and a half slower.

i have heard the terminators are no joke. i dont think ive seen any around fayetteville though. is there a visual difference between the two?

He mustof sucked at driving. Good kill though. New 5.0's are pretty fast stock especially top end. Ive raced 2 one stock and one with a cbe and bamatune. Both would pull after 100-110 but I was also putting down 320hp with 3gal of E.

The visual difference will be the 03/04 will be bus lengths ahead shortly after you honk it off, lol. They respond extremely well to light mods, and since finding a stock one is like finding a unicorn, odds are its going to be ugly for any stock turbo speed.

But, the 99/01's are still decent, even today. The 4v responds well to mods, so for you to pull on them is good!!

Nice driving against the 5.0, i'm sure he wasn't expecting it.

Good race. I am not sure but I think if you put an intake on the coyote engine you have to tune for it but I could very well be wrong but if I am right he may have lost power with that mod without the tune. @TheGreatWhiteHype;, past member here, has a 2012 5.0 with exhaust mods we along with @Awesomesauce;helped with and his car pulls like a beast. I do not have e85 (Yet) but will not even think about running him now without e85.

I drove a cobra with a ported eaton, pully, intake and NT05 DR's. 500 rwhp is no joke.

from what he told me him & 2 friends were heading all heading home on hwy 24, they all live within a few miles of each other, one of his friends got pulled that night near grove street, he snitched on him and another friend, all their cars got impounted several hours later from their home... 2 early 90's Nissan 240's and a Toyota AE86. their cars are all slow and run open exhausts, cop claims he clocked them at 85 and had to get up to 85 to catch them which dosent make any sense, considering none them cars would do 85 in the condition they were in. he hired a lawer and got the charge reduced to careless & reckless which carries 4 points on your license in NC and got his car back about 6 months later.
