Genpu Vs Cobra

Ok lol so here is my kill for tonight. i was bored at home around 11pm and i figured id go for a ride and just relax a bit (somewhat looking for a race). i go through town cruisin n putting around and go to get on i75 the main highway to take me home. i had a yeild going onto the on ramp and let the yellow 96-98 cobra have the right away and go ahead of me. well when he gets on the on ramp he floors it. so i realize he is gunning it so i drop to 3rd and start pushing. he is prolly hitting around 100 when he changes merges on the highways. well i pass him about 115 like he is sitting still on what is the rest of the on ramp lane lol (very very low traffic like 2 cars and a semi in sight). so i fly by him get about 8 or 9 cars ahead slow down to 80 and let him catch up. when he does he comes hauling up behind me gets over to my left and slows down and its dark he had his windows down and i couldnt see alot but it lookd like he was laughing lol (it was sprinkling a little he was saying something but didnt wana get inside of my car wet so i left windows up lol). so i honk 3 times we are sitting between 80-85 leave it in 5th and gas it and i guess he didnt think he had to downshift or something cause i pulled a full car length ahead of him. i slow back down and he wants more. this time no honk. he hears me go down into forth and then all i hear is RAWRRRR coming from the cobra and he starts to go. so imidiately i stomp it and im instantly nose to nose with him (when he stomped it he got the jump on me and my front end was at his front fender). i smooth(granny) shift into 5th knowing allready i got this and then continue to slowly pull on him. got up to about 120 and he was at my rear fender. i could see his entire front bumper when i looked over to give u an idea. a semi was coming up and i allready had it so i let off and he got over for me. (it was 4 miles from one exit to the other). he went on ahead of me and i followed him off cause i coulda swore when he got on it i heard super charger squellleeee. lol. i rolled my window down and he acted shocked as fuck lol. i asked him what he had and he was like alll stock bro. some hispanic lookin dude. said it wasnt super charged or anything and it was the 4.7. i came home looked it all up and it was the 96-98 model cobra with a 4.6 pumping 305 hp runs high 13s. i feel acomplished lol. so there is my first mustang kill in the new speed 3.

Less power??....that model Cobra has 305 bhp correct? and his Genpu is 263 stock, but he has full Corksport intake, so 20 more hp?..so 280ish crank. I think rwd cars lose alittle more at the wheels compared to fwd, so I bet whp numbers were close, and I wanna say those older cobras are around 3400lb.

Its a fwd sport hactchback car around low 20k thats made to be practical and kinda fast, and that Cobra, which is a american muscle car, that ran 13's in the 90's. which was considered pretty dam quick back then...I was driving a Toyota Tercel in 99 haha, fml

It may have made 305 at the crank, but never could put down more than 260s to the tires. They had a hard enough time beating NSX's

Eh, I was thinking the early 90's 5.0's for some reason. He mentioned he heard a supercharger, in which case an early 90's model 5.0 he could have hung with, but not a newer one.

How'd you manage to beat an is350? because I know for sure those are hella fast! I've stomped an is 250 from a roll but I'd double think racing a 350...

IS350 runs high 13's stock, from a roll I'd give a slightly modded MS3 the advantage.

Had almost the same experience in my car racing a 350z I raced not too long ago. Your story I mean, almost the same as mine, just replace the Cobra with 350z and your Genpu with my 09 MS3 GT.

I raced a 2000 something model Mustang GT. Had the great big cowl hood on it. Guy definitely had aftermarket exhaust for sure and no passengers while I had a 300 lb guy in mine, but I absolutely raped his car over and over again... even from a dig.

So far, I've had very little competition from high speed races. Most cars I've raced from over 70mph get dusted. Not raced a whole lot though, but I do think this is where our cars really shine... highway racing where FWD is actually a plus (no drivetrain loss and traction not an issue). This is where all that torque comes in so handy too.

I was just trying to summarize how he could have hung or beat a supercharged early and mid 90's body style mustang. Unless you put on smaller pulleys and re-tune, most kits like the Votech or Paxton superchargers on offer around 275 hp with a smaller pulley upgrade, low 300's. They can be beastly wit ha more serious set up though.
