I got killed by something I shouldn't have...

So today, I was on my way to school just being my merry self when I spot, you'd never guess, a trailblazer ss... lol I knew it had an exhaust from the get go because of how loud it was.

We were side by side at the light, but there was a bend ahead, so I figured he'd just do the normal thing (haha) and not race.... Well needless to say, I wasn't expecting him to do so, but he launched on me when we hit 20mph. I was like "WTF!?" I wasn't in the right gear so I quickly shifted into second and took off for him.

I have a boost leak also, so I'm just watching my boost gauge and the back of the trailblazer.... I was gaining on him and then I stayed like dead even with him 1.5 to 2 cars ahead. None of us could pull ahead. Ended around 110mph.

I caught up to him next to a light and he told me he was dissappointed that he only won by that much because it had heads, exhaust and a tune. He said something like it was the RWD model too. I never knew they made just RWD ones...

The only question he asked me was "what year is that 6?!" I said '06.....with a 4 cylinder he promptly said with some anger in his voice "later!" and drove off.... It's shaping up to be a good day, even if a huge SUV beat me.

Are these things decently fast?

My buddy bought one identical to the one you raced about a year ago and did some bolt ons. The thing sits dead even with me from anything. His wife ran a 13.5 in it when we took it to the track. They are not to be underestimated lol.

Actually those things can be pretty quick. Last summer when I was at the drag strip one of those broke into the Tens. It was a site to behold, I never thought one of those things could be even remotely fast.

Our awd also doesn't help. I raced my cousins 370z with exhaust the other day, dead even from a 30 roll, till he hit 4th gear and pulled a car and a 1/2 on me.

Pretty sure they came stock with an LS2 and 400 HP. From what I remember, with a little work they were real sleepers.

they have tons of aftermarket support, are underrated from the factory, and have shift on the fly (can switch anytime between 4wd and 2wd by turning a knob). they can be beasts

If you have to lose to an SUV, this is one of the few that is likely to take that honor. I've squared off with one once before. We were pretty even but ran into traffic pretty quickly, so don't really know how it would have ended.

Your sig says you're stock as shit AND you say you have a boost leak. So I wouldn't be surprised if you couldn't pull on a bolted and tuned trailblazer ss.

I raced a stock one when I had just a sri/tip, and a cobb stage 1 ots in my ms3 from a light. it sounded awesome but didnt have the speed to match the sound. took him fairly easily

If it makes you feel any better, i was dead even with a new explorer with the SHO V6 Ecoboost in it, unknown mods but definately exhaust. I was suprised.

Buddy had one with a very built ls3 swap, dyno hit 590 hp 610tq before tune lol.

I ran a boosted one when I was stock turbo. I thought I'd beat him, then I heard the turbos spool as he blew my doors off.

I "raced" one in my old 1999 Maxima in '07. I pulled on him but he had a car full of people and as loud as his car was. I didn't think he was trying. As I was flooring it a Corvette and a Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8 flew past both of us like it was nothing! It was a "race" that I will never forget.

Some on the trail blazer forums have reported being in the 13s after some mods. I say though that if you bring a lot of money your only limitation would be the laws of physics.

Trailblazers can be as slow or as fast as you have $$$ to put in them. With that motor the fastest way to 12's is a 150 shot or if you don't like liquid power, supercharger. I beat them fairly often in my Flex and watch them pout....
