My 2010 speed3 and a current gen wrx

I on sunrise highway going east bound when i hear a nice burble passing me, of course it was a subi, so i got close to him and downshifter to 3rd going about 55, he then downshifts and honks, now im only about 290whp on basic bolt ons and a stage 2 tune, and next thing i know im pulling the shit out of him, got from 50 ish to 90 and he just got on his brakes (: had him by a car and a half, he had a beautifal exhaust i must say,

All the Subaru people claim 300awhp(bolted) on the 2009+ WRX's. But based on what I've seen on here, never seems to be comparable to a bolted MS3.

VF52 is a decent turbo, much better then the TD04, but they don't seem to have anything on the K04.

I have '12 WRX...a lot more drivetrain loss than FWD. Definitely doesn't feel as quick while rolling (although I'm bone stock).

Orly? Never? Even from a dig?

It depends on the race. If you're taking a fully bolted MS3/6 Vs. a fully bolted WRX from a roll, of course you'll win (driver permitted), because of the extra drive train loss from AWD. However, from a dig it would be different, usually.

I took an 04 black fully bolted (so he said) WRX from a dig three times in a row the other day. He had three people in his car. I had four people, plus about 300 pounds of nails in the back. Neck and neck 1st and 2nd and I pulled pretty good in 3rd.

He said some bull shit about his trans not being able to handle all the torque he can put down. Those old 5 speeds can easily hold 400 ft lbs from the subi guys I've talked too.

I don't believe that is true. I remember doing this comparision a while looking to buy the 2012 WRX and the VF-52 was larger. Anyone have the CFM on the stock K04?

VF52: 435cfm 32 lbs/min

I have owned both cars and as I have said the WRX is better bang for the buck to a point. If you want 350whp or under it is the better car. You just need a catless DP, fuel pump, injectors, E85 and an open source tune (free) and you will be close to or beyond the upper limits of the K04. Thats maybe $850 in parts. Suby guys have put down 350awhp on the VF52 and a couple 11 second time slips. No point in modding the car without E85 though. Dogs on pump gas. That said I would feel more comfortable pushing the MS3 with 6-speed past the 400hp mark than the WRX.

Exactly 2 of my close friends have 13 wrx's and my bestfriend has a 2008 sti, i beat the wrx's when i stock... Both tuned with cobb, but the 2008 sti has cobb stage 2 maps, turboback and intake and he and i pull next to eachother out of 2nd then i end up pulling him slowly i need moat power

Hardly relevant. 2004 was the 2.0L and a completely different turbo.

I believe it. I have both cars...2012 ms3 and 2012 subie wrx. No doubt the ms3 is way more fun to drive due to the useable lowend torque. The subie feels quick past 3500 rpm and the 5 speed gears are further spaced then the 6 speed ms3.

They are slow. Even if I went WOT and murdered my tires, I'd still catch them. My brother-in-law has one. When we were both stock, I would put buses on him from a roll.

A buddy of mine went 12.9 @ 109 in his '09 WRX hatch. I/TBE/FMIC/Protune. Sounds pretty in line with a FBO/Protuned MS3. His clutch acted up a bit on the launches, it's a solid 12.6-12.7 car with the right launch.

OP, what dyno shop and kind of dyno? I see you are on Long Island....

The killer for the 3 will always be FWD. Look at the times the 6's can run...
