Revolution Performance Motorsports Revolution Performance Manufacturing (RPM) was started by three Mazda 6 enthusiasts in early 2004 under a simple premise: to develop and manufacture new products for the Mazda 6 at an affordable price. We began to realize our purpose with the short throw shifter and gas hood lifter kits for that vehicle. Since then, we have added many new aftermarket products from well-known manufacturers and continue to expand to offer products for other vehicles with the goal of having the best prices and customer service on the 'net.

Well, the S3 seems like a good fit for what you have listed. Unless you build your motor, you wouldn't be able to take full advantage of what the S4 will offer.

I'd like to see how responsive this turbo is. If spool characteristics are good, it could be the logical upgrade to ensure you never need more boost unless going full R-tard.

It's on par with the GT3076 or a little quicker. It will hit 20 PSI around 3700 RPM.

They do plan on releasing dyno charts. They're just waiting until the car is ready, so they can release the best chart first.

Oh I know, building will definitely be happening. Gotta get the house with a garage first so I have a place to build the motor.

This should be a great seller, just like the s3 was.

My BNR S3 hit 20 psi at ~3600 (before I adjusted WG spring pressure preload and got it to 3,300). That's not bad for a larger turbo. I think the MS3 can benefit from a slightly later spool anyways since big gains in the 2,500-3,500 pretty much translates to wheelspin.

That's great that it drops into the stock location and doesn't need a massive whale penis intake. This could probably pass a roadside visual and smog visual inspection in Cali, and since it mates to stock intake size, it makes it that much easier. That also means guys could swap in the turbo and then upgrade to large intake later.

Knowing Bryan, I'm sure the turbo is balanced flow wise, so probably no boost control problems (i.e. spikes) either.

Well, it does have a 3-inch inlet, so it will need a larger intake, or at least a larger coupler if you already have one. I'm not sure what size starts to constitute "whale penis" size.. haha

As a guy that swore I was going to stay stock until the car was paid off, I think this turbo would be good for me.

I swear now I don't want to do an engine build, but I would probably buy an S3 or CS turbo and eventually get bored and/or want more. This S4 may be the right turbo for guys like me. Could be fun on stock block, but has potential to take you further.

And that bundle price is crazy, very tempting.

I'm fairly certain this test car has a JMF intake as well, which isn't going to help spool.

Is it possible for Bryan to put a thicker bead closer to the edge or on the edge of the turbo outlet? I used a shorter coupler on my BNR S3 and the t-bolt clamp was above the thick bead and I blew the coupler off after 4 road racing sessions running only 21 psi of boost.

The outlet does taper, so if you can get it on a couple inches, you shouldn't have an issue. Honestly, if you have a quality hose clamp and tighten it properly, you shouldn't have that issue. Many people are running more boost for extended periods without issue.

^ Yeah, but they hit the boost a few times for a short period of time and call it quits, try doing it 4 times a day, 30 minutes each time.... Just saying, it would not cost him much time or effort, and it would make the turbo better for those who run a fmic. Guys who run a tmic do not have this problem as the coupler is jammed between the turbo outlet and the intercooler inlet.

If you're just wanting a thicker bead on the outlet, that seems like something that would take a few minutes of welding - I can't see a shop charging you more than $20 for something like that.

I hate this forum. Every time I get on here I buy something, or plan to buy something that I never intended on purchasing. I'm going to be broke in no time.

On that note, anybody upgrading from an s3 to an s4 need to get rid of their s3 in order to get an s4? 😁 I might be putting up a WTB thread soon. Lol

Thanks! This turbo isn't really comparable to the CS turbo, though. The CS would compare closer to the S3. If you're planning on building your motor at some point, this is the way to go.

My motor is getting built as we speak. But as much as I an tempted to get this, bnr turbos have a rep for having issues at first production. I will stick with my s3 for the time being. If I hear of no issues by next summer, then I will get one.

Nice unit, package, and price point. Definitely tempting for someone who can resist turning up the boost until they build their motor. I'll wait for test results before I decide whether this will be the route I go, I'm always a little wary of first runs on new products that move at 1 million RPMs

I hope it goes well for anyone who tries this turbo.

Obviously not, by no means did I imply it was. But even 1st run Honda Civics have their fair share of issues.

edit: I'm fully pulling for this to be a fantastic product, just like the others, more great products for our platforms/engines is all one can ask for as a performance enthusiast.

Also because no one ran the turbo prior to the release. It was just released without testing. V3 wastegate issue due to bryan making own housing instead of reusing k04's.

This turbo has been on my car since June 19th with 2500 plus miles on it. Only issue was wastegate port being too large which has been remedied

Well, I went to BNR to visit with Bryan for a bit yesterday. Lots of stuff going on at the shop. Plenty of turbos being built. If you want an s4 you better go ahead and preorder. Killer turbo. The knowledge Bryan has with turbos and how well they will perform always blows my mind. Basically, Just get the turbo is what I'm trying to say.

And Thanks RPM. the 4k$ I spent earlier this is finally about to be put to good use as my build is almost complete. I love it when awesome people team up to offer the community greatness.

I don't doubt bryans knowledge of turbos, I do run the s3 now. Just the kinks it had initially. But if testing them and they are good then that's great.

funny you mention that. I brought that up yesterday when we were talking. It's painful to see things like this happen with any vendor, but they were handled professionally and quickly. He realizes that while his company can suffer when things like this happen his main concern is the consumer and making sure that we are happy. That means a lot to me. These units won't see any problems at all with boost control....

The "established" ~500whp turbos haven't been faring too well for reliability if you've done any reading here or on other social media.

really haven't heard much on that subject of bigger turbos failing. But I like that the s4 is being tested before it's released so that's a good thing. Like I said I have an s3 and its been fine so I have no issues with Bryan and his product knowledge.

As I am on the shitter; i can vouch that bryan will take care of you if something does happen. 》coming from the (2nd) guy with documented S3 v2 issues...

That being said, i really dont have worries that the S4 will be a great turbo for most... stock or built

I definitely didn't mean to imply anything bad about Brian's turbos or BNR, sorry to have tilted the thread into that direction. Just thinking out loud, I've been bitten by bad luck a few times on brand new products.

The price is truly insane for a turbo of this magnitude, I wish it great success.

For one I have aftermarket Kozmic oil feed and drain lines on the my GTX and there is always the decision of bearing type in the CHRA.

I remember Garrett saying that the CHRAs on the GTX turbos were not rebuildable and you had to send them in for service should something happen. Meh to that noise.

well my bnr s3 started leaking from the exhaust bracket side no oil its and exhaust leak , havnt checked it good , but this s4 looks tempting ...
