I have the 4-piston upgrade on my car. It uses OEM-sized rotors, comes with adapters, pads, lines, and Wilwood forged calipers.

Initial impression is a much more progressive pedal feel, nicely firm, and should have NO fade!

Wasn't there an issue with these not grabbing the full brake surface of the rotor or something? Or was that addressed already?

It does not grab the full surface of the stock rotor. That does not diminish from the grabbing power of these brakes. It is more or less a cosmetic thing. These grab hard. Trust me.

These kits do use smaller pads than the stock calipers. However, a smaller pad of the same compound in the same location as a larger pad will not affect stopping distances. The amount of pressure applied, the pad friction coefficient, and the diameter of the rotor at which that pressure is applied, determine the torque reaction, or stopping force. As such, an upgrade to a 4-piston caliper will improve braking due to the increased amount of more evenly-distributed pressure, despite the smaller pad.

Plus it is an excuse to run a 2 piece rotor and fix the cosmetic issue right? At least that is what I remember seeing in pictures that someone posted.

Here's a comparison. The odd shaped one is stock and the more rectangular shaped one is the Wilwood pad.

Sorry, I meant the caliper size. I know our stocks are fairly large.

Well, Fastbrakes currently doesn't offer a kit for the Mazdspeed 6, but they may be able to make one if someone in the Phoenix area is willing to work with them on it.

I don't have a side by side comparison pic but the 4 piston calipers are definitely smaller than stock. I have 'em on 17" wheels with plenty of clearance. More so than stockers.

I'll try to get a comparison pic next weekend.

I was just interested to know if we could fit 15's over them. They really wouldn't need to be that much smaller to do so.

I guess it would totally depend on the rims. Only thing I can do is tell you what wheels I have and measure the clearance to the spokes and rim. If the 15 is thin, it might be possible?

ok just buying the calipers is a better price then a full wilwood kit for the ms6 i've found about half. So hopefully they will get someone local so they can make a adapter

I take that back. I just called and they will have a caliper kit available for the MS6 in about 2 weeks. I'll get it added to the site. It will be $695 and uses the Wilwood 4-piston Superlite calipers.

I saw these...and wanted to know difference in pad size as I was just curious, although it doesnt make a difference as reasons were stated above...but if anyone was interested my crude photochop using their inches scale to bring them to their realistic sizes over eachother.

I guess it all depends on your definition of "bigger".
Especially when the most important part of a caliper is piston size.

im talking "bigger" as in.. you put the two side by side, and look at them. actual size of the caliper. not the piston that's in it.
I never once mentioned the piston size.
in this case. the most important part is the physical size of the caliper, because if needs to clear the wheels.

these wilwoods are more compact than the stock speed3 calipers, which means they're surely smaller than the speed 6 calipers. There's at least an inch clearance, or more, between my caliper and my 17x9 TRM C3's.

These wheels did fit on my buddy's ms6 as a test fit.

That Photoshop concerns me. I don't care how much more pressure these calipers exert, having a smaller contact area with the rotor will promote fading and heat spots. Not to mention the more likelihood of pad deposit on the rotor surface and warping for people DDing their cars. There is a reason for massive pad size and that's heat dissipation.

Has anyone used these in track applications? This just looks like a cosmetic upgrade.

I'm not trying to hate, I'm just looking at the real world application of this.
