Revolution Performance Motorsports Revolution Performance Manufacturing (RPM) was started by three Mazda 6 enthusiasts in early 2004 under a simple premise: to develop and manufacture new products for the Mazda 6 at an affordable price. We began to realize our purpose with the short throw shifter and gas hood lifter kits for that vehicle. Since then, we have added many new aftermarket products from well-known manufacturers and continue to expand to offer products for other vehicles with the goal of having the best prices and customer service on the 'net.

Default HTP>JBR?

Why you no stock HTP anymooarr?

But seriously, found out today that HTP intakes are no longer stocked. Being that I had ordered the BNRS3, the HTP 3" was one of the supporting mods. RPM did the right thing and have offered me an equivalent (JBR 3") at no extra price, which is fantastic!

Only thing I'm concerned about is fitment with the battery box and ECU. I didn't really want to do a relocate or anything, but if it's neccasary I guess I'll need to make the plunge. Can anyone chime in on this?

I should note that it is the full aluminium widepath 3" intake being offered instead of HTP

Relocation is not necessary with a 3".

Fair enough. I've read/seen that the ecu lower needs to be removed, does this cause excessive rubbing on the cables? Would hate to destroy a wire on that sucker

3.5" needs relocation. Believe 3" just needs the ecu cover removed.

also keep in mind BPV placement (i.e. location of the BPV for the TMIC vs FMIC). We just did a BNR install over last weekend and I can't remember if it was JBR or CS but there was some issues in fitment with the filter rubbing on the BPV with a TMIC application.

some trimming may be required of the bpv hose. I do belive you will need to move the ecm for clearance of the intake. But that is no big deal just unmount from your battery box and move it to the front of the battery box or mount it to your fuse block cover.

This is taken right from jbr's website.

Fitment:
Simple bolt on application.
Compatible with the stock battery box (May require the removal of the outer ECU cover)
Uses stock mounting location for OEM Turbo. (May not use OEM mounting location with all GT Turbos)
Fits with the OEM and all aftermarket top mount intercoolers.
Fits with all front mount intercoolers that a conventional SRI will work with.

(NOTE: When run with a BNR turbo, ECU relocation is required for proper fitment of this intake.)

Yeah I've read that, but that's not always 100% accurate. Sales pitches stretch the truth to make $$$ occasionally. But I'm sure it'll be fine. I've seen quite a few people install it without much drama, so I'm happy.

I don't mind if I have to move the ECU, but I didn't wanna go around having to extend the cables as if rather not learn to solder on my ecu haha. But if it's truly as simple as just moving it without having to worry about that, no dramas here then.

Pull battery and box, theres a little bracket held on by 2 nuts i think that holds the ecu down. unscrew that and take it out of the white plastic piece on the ecu wires then you can move it freely to the fuse box or infront of the battery box. no need to cut and solder, that would be a nightmare haha.

Oh cool, I mean I've pulled it off before when I installed my corksport intake, but couldn't remember if there was a lot of play in where the cables would extend to. So it's good to know. I'll just mount it on the front of the battery box more then likely then.

Thanks for all the help people!

Typically most people just stick it on the fuse box. Doesn't look clean but its secure.

So update, got it all installed last weekend. I removed the bottom ecu cover and have put a bit of foam to it so I don't destroy it. It fits without too much of a hassle, which is good
