MSF Matte Car Members

I've noticed that more and more members are getting matte wraps/paint done to their cars. Lets see them all.
@rfinkle2, @mahuebel, @Death-From-A-Mile Let me know if I'm forgetting anyone

Just as reference, these measurements are made with some extra and are rounded up. You'll want a bit extra just in case.
This is for gen1, but gen 2 should be about the same.
Roof: 7'X5' - 35 Sq. Ft
Hood: 6'X4' - 24 sq. ft
front bumper: 7'x3' - 21 sq. ft
Sides: 16'x5' X2 - 160 sq. ft
rear bumper: 7'x2' - 14 sq. ft
Hatch: 4'x4' - 16 sq. ft
wing: 5'x2' - 10 sq. ft
Car total: 280 sq. ft

Doesn't matter when. It just depends on what you want to do first. It's an expensive thing, BUT in the long run, when they took the first wrap off my car, my car looks brand new.

lol, yeah not a real "weekend getaway" on that one..there are some local msf peeps that are good with their photo skills and fancy cameras..hopefully i will be able to get one to go on a man date and take some pics...of the car...-cough cough-

I read that they last anywhere from 5 to 10 years. Is that an accurate statement? If so it might be better to get that now.

5 years on horizontal surface and 7 years on verticle. It also depends on if you garage your car too. Mine is garaged about 90% of the time. I have a garage at work and a garage at home so like 120 hours out of 168 hours/week the car is inside. Give or take...

I thought the same thing, but it is easier to maintain than paint (@ least black anyhow). If you get something on it that is difficult to remove, just hit it with some rubbing alcohol or a good all purpose cleaner.

Yes, wrapped and grumpyjap's and tooslow10's are as well.

You could wrap your car using about $450-$500 in materials and time. It takes time, especially when you first start.

Probably awesome at first. My wheels are slowing starting to peel, and I coated them about 8-9 times. Plus Plasti-dip to my experience is a pain to clean. If you dont wipe the water off good enough from a wash it leaves water marks that suck getting off.


Plus large areas are damn hard to do. I did my roof and peeled it off after about a month. Large surfaces would def. require a spray gun.


ps. @rfinkle2 those wheels make the car complete. Absolutely sick. I wish you lived in PA so you could get those windows tinted.
