Denatured alcohol is a much stronger solvent. Chemically much different from ispropyl alcohol as well.

When wiping things down, denatured alcohol will give you more cleaning power.

Do you have a steam cleaner of any kind Storm?

TBH, steam is working very well for me too.

Makes bugs, bird droppings, sap etc very easy to remove (from paint and vinyl).

Denatured alcohol = ethanol with additives to make it inedible (thereby avoiding the alcohol sin tax).

Isopropyl alcohol has three methyl groups, while ethanol has two methyl groups.

Isopropyl alcohol is better than ethanol at cleaning non-polar chemicals like oils.

That is going to look badass. FWIW, I think AVS has the cheaper prices on 3m 1080p.

Also, Fellers may or may not let you open an account if you call.

They have very good prices but don't usually sell to the consumer.

I have an account (by mistake on their part probably) so before you order, lmk and I'll see if i can't get it cheaper through Fellers.

I have. On my satin finish it is a little blotchy. For pure matte, it is excellent.

That's not bad. I would more than likely pay someone to do it unless I could get nator help.

I got several paint chips on the hood I tried Dr. Colorchip which I believe I did wrong so gona try it again. If it doesn't work I might look at going to a matte color.

Other than keeping it clean what do you do to take care of it. Its not like you can polish and wax it

It is the labor costs that make a wrap expensive, imo. Depending on how much of the car they take apart, that $600.00 is just for materials. I've talked to people who were quoted anywhere from $1500 - $4000.

Cleaning is generally the same as regular paint, but you wouldn't want to use a "wash and wax" because it makes the finish blotchy.

Anything that wouldn't come off with a regular wash usually comes off with an alcohol wipedown.

I also try to keep up with it with the below to products as they are the only 2 I have tried that are quick and efficient without causing blotchiness.

Yeah, if the installer does it right and removes everything they should, bumper, door handles, etc then you're looking at $3000 for material and labor. Its expensive, but the benefits of a wrapped car is completely worth it.
This is my car getting wrapped the second time. Take notice on how the first wrap protected the paint.

Just as reference, these measurements are made with some extra and are rounded up. You'll want a bit extra just in case.
This is for gen1, but gen 2 should be about the same.
Roof: 7'X5' - 35 Sq. Ft
Hood: 6'X4' - 24 sq. ft
front bumper: 7'x3' - 21 sq. ft
Sides: 16'x5' X2 - 160 sq. ft
rear bumper: 7'x2' - 14 sq. ft
Hatch: 4'x4' - 16 sq. ft
wing: 5'x2' - 10 sq. ft
Car total: 280 sq. ft

Side question, is there a reason you chose not to wrap the grill insert, @rfinkle2; ? Would it have been too much work because of all the weird angles/ curves, etc. Or did you simply want to leave some contrast between the rest of the car and the grill?

It seemed as if there was just too much chance to have the edges peel up due to all of the intricacies of the grill, but it grew on me to have the contrast. In short, I was lazy, but it worked out. LOL

I figured that's what might have been the case when looking at the grill, lol. I'm seriously considering wrapping the car before this year is over and I've been tossing around the idea of wrapping the grill in the same color. I think for something that complicated however, it'd be smart to take it to a professional.

First I'll need to buy a replacement front bumper though since the bottom corner of my bumper is torn

Im waiting on my 3M sample... I have tested the Oracal (not a fan) and just got the test pieces of the Hexis. I figured you of all people tested them all out... lol. I have a feeling 3M is going to be the winner in my case as well.

3m's adhesive is great, the vinyl is fairly easy to work with and they also make a primer product for areas that are tough to keep down.

The adhesive promoter / primer (use only on very difficult areas / edges) is named Primer 94.

Fields. 3m is by far my favorite! Also side note Fellers will set up personal accounts. Only difference between personal accounts and other business accounts is, business accounts get better discounts than what is shown in the catalog and don't have to pay sales tax.

I didn't wrap my car with 1080p, I used oracal, but I have a pint of the primer 94 I'm not using.

That primer goes a LONG way. You just want a thin coat of the tight areas. This comes in as important when you go to remove the wrap.

The pic above is matte dark grey. I know that the 3m matte dark grey and matte silver both have a metalic sheen to them so they will pick up different colors in the ambient light sometimes making them appear darker or lighter in color too. Florecent lights tend to do this more for some reason.

As for matte white. I will warn you, although in person it looks AMAZING, it is VERY hard to transfer to photo. Just kind of looks like a dirty white car. I've only seen 2 matte white cars in person, but they definitely made me want to change color again.

It's not a MS but my bike is matte white with glossed graphics. There is no way I could have the patience to keep a matte white car clean. I had my Mini Cooper S wrapped in matte silver for a few years.

That's still pretty expensive. I know I could get DipYourCar to do mine matte black for ~$800. But that's still mod money just for a new look.

Aren't the corners hard to do? I have horrible luck, so I'm prone to mess up at least 3 times.

It takes some practice and patience. Best thing to do is order a few samples and try to wrap some difficult portions of the car.

You may mess a large piece or two up, but you will still be well below $1500.00 in materials.
