Default Socks' 1994 Mazda RX-7

Here is my 1994 RX-7. I've talked about it a bit on here, but never really posted anything about it...

Bought the car from Howard Coleman of Coleman Precision Rotaries in August.

As of Oct. 24 2011 it has the following:

17x9 and 17x10 SSR Comps
235/45 and 275/40 Sumitomo HTR Z3
Pettit SS 3" downpipe
Turbo Tuff SS 3" cat-back
K&N airfilter
Eibach Pro-Kit
Rotary Performance adjustable toe links and lower longitudinal links
Sakebomb Garage Stainless Brake Lines
EBC Greenstuff Pads

Other than that, its relatively stock, even the emissions stuff (for now). Most of that stuff was on the car when i bought it, other than the Brake Lines and Pro-Kit.

Here's some pics, I'll update as I mod more.

ugh, crappy pics gonna be crappy. i'll have to charge the real camera...

Thanks!

The goal is, if Mizboo102's miata gets an LS1, the RX-7 is gonna need about 400-450whp just to keep up. I'd also like to get a 99 front bumper, and have the car painted pearl white, either the lexus pearl or the mazda CWP

I'm thinking of building a twin gt28rs setup, ditching all the emissions, fmic, new rad, powerFC. would be capable of 500whp, but dont need all that. one rotor/turbo

and i have GOT to get rid of the skyscraper antenna...

Hands down, one of the best Mazdas ever built. And, the best looking.

I've always had a soft spot for those late model RX-7s. Good shit, Sean.

ugh what i could tell u about that car haha. you should just go single GT35, you have plenty of RPM's and you will max those 28's without HUGE hotsides on them.

what kinda miles r on that thing?

It's a small car, there's definitely no room to run in it.

Fun fact of the day.... it's nearly impossible to hydro lock a rotary. If Sean's willing to let me try though... i bet i could make it happen.

Nice!! An old buddy I lost contact with had one all "riced out" made it in some magazines. If I find pictures ill post some engine bay shots so you can get ideas. It was TT but no idea on the specs and shit. Thing moved though.

The T04S turbo is nice and have great spool time on these motors. It would make the 450 you want.

It is very nice, but a little rounded for me. I hope to put the 99 front end, and "facelift" it some:

Chassis has 112k, motor has 35k. I'd do a 35r, but, i am thinking of going for the bling of twins. I have had to replace a few small items, i did the tie rods, belts, and alternator. mostly out of preventative measure though.

me too :-x luckily i dont have to rely on it every day. i have my work truck, and bonnie has the miata and ms3.

Suprisingly, not many. only one person has chased me down, and it was a dude in a lexus, who also had an FD.

Tis true, alot of owners will let the rotary "injest" about a gallon of water once or twice a year (in about 3-5 minutes) to clean carbon out.

I havent fully narrowed down the turbo hunt yet, as im not ready to drop the cash, but a big 35 is still in the runnings. especially because it would be alooot cheaper than twin 28rs's. those are just kinda a personal challenge, to fab it all up myself.

Originally Posted by Karmat View Post

it was just shy of 13. buying it from a well known rotor nut was worth a little extra cash in peace of mind. plus, the prices are up recently for them. being that short of the exhaust its all stock, its sought after for being "unmolested". the exhaust is a reliability mod too.

I hate you Sean.

Seriously though, best of luck with it. Persoanlly I like the 20B swap with a monster turbo...but that exceeds your goals a bit lol. The twin 28's will be fucking sweet!

Dude Howard Coleman is the fricken messiah of rotaries. I want to do BNR stage 3s in mine. I happen to have a TO4e kit that I've been meaning to sell. I can cut you a pretty good deal as I have no need for it. Sales pitch aside, go pearl white. Saw one when i was in oki, first rx7 i ever really seen up close, was in love with the car ever since. Something about the white and the lines of this car that just scream elegance. 99 bumper and taillights make this car look like it just came out.

One of the sexiest cars ever made. I think those, the later 300ZXs, and the Stealth RT TTs are among the hottest cars ever produced. Lines are damn near perfect.

COngrats.

Nice s6 FD. I have owned an s4/s5 jdm motored fc and a winning silver S5 gxl, also the same year FD u have. I was huge into rotories before and i might be getting back in the game. On my FD i ran a gt35r and at low boost and a home made tune made 438whp and 376ftlbs. It was a scary fast car. If u need any help choosing parts give me a pm ill be glad to help another rotor head

very nice!, i had a 94 in excellent condition. i wish i never sold it (id rather be in debt haha). i never once ran into engine problems. All that went wrong with it was the driver side door handle (which is known) and someone stole my emblem..

The 99 front end and tail lights are beautiful, just never got around to doing it. as for the antenna i just had them dis connect it when i replaced the head unit.

hope you have fun with it! its a great car!

So, about due for an update. Some has changed. Alot is about to.

I've done some random things
HKS RS Intakes
magnaflow resonated midpipe
full emissions removal
Apexi PowerFC ECU with Commander and Datalogit
Cusco front strut brace
Odyssey PC680, in the rear bin, with a cutoff switch
DevilsOwn Water/Meth Injection

But... That stuffs all childs play compared to whats coming.

I ordered a defined autoworks v-mount in the middle of december. For those that dont know, it uses the spare space in front of the, and the radiator and intercooler make a gator mouth shape towards the opening in the front of the car. That way both the intercooler and the radiator get fresh air. Some people have issues with cars running hot with a FMIC.

Here's what it should look like:

Well, I was expecting to recieve it, so I did some other work in conjunction with draining the coolant. I took my turbos off to port the wastegate. Found they were not in good shape. Lots of housing cracks. I ported the wastegate anyway, and due to delays in the manufacturing of my v-mount, reinstalled them. But obviously they are on their last legs.

So I ordered an A-Spec Tuning turbo setup. Exhaust manifold, PT6266 turbo, Downpipe with recirculated Tial 44mm wastegate (which may end up as a Precision 46mm), but i'd prefer the watercooled tial, since the turbo is not watercooled, it'd be easy to run water to the wastegate. Downpipe, Manifold, and Turbine housing all ceramic coated. The kit is done, just needs coating as of today. I picked the A-spec because I had seen a completed manifold, and was in awe. I could fab this setup up myself, but even though its taken a month and a half to have someone else do it, its still done sooner than I could have done it, and I can weld really well, but aint got jack on A-Spec.

Here is a shot inside one of the runners, such precisely fabricated pieces:

http://i635.photobucket.com/albums/u...0816-01168.jpg

This turbo should be good for 400whp on 13-15psi, and 500whp on 23-25psi. Now, we all know the stock fuel system cant support that, so wanting to keep up with the quality with the rest of the stuff I've got, I went for it.

Full Function Engineering Fuel Kit.

New Primary and Secondary Fuel Rails, all engine bay fuel lines, and fuelab mini fuel regulator.
Injector Dynamics 725cc Primary injectors
Injector Dynamics 2000cc Secondary injectors

5450cc of fueling... should do it

Anywho, all these parts should be making their way to me soon. Fuel system should ship Monday, Turbo setup should ship towards the end of next week. The V-mount that was ordered in December is still "3 weeks out", which is the same estimate they gave me in the beginning of February, but I had a chat with them, and am close to pulling the plug if they don't step up to this deadline.
@helmetface; tagging you since you sparked this update.

Heres a pic of the fuel rails:

I also got rid of the SSR Comps and got some knockoff BBS LM's
Put an R1 front lip, ShineAuto Street diffuser, and low profile spoiler.
