Why is it so damn hard to just make it compatible with Mac os

I'm using boot camp with windows 7 ultimate. Works perfectly. And the setup was so easy. Never was a fan of running a virtual machine.

Im trying to understand this as well. Im trying to figure out what in Windows OS (software or file type) makes downloading maps and ATR's possible that you cant on a MAC. What software or application is being used to download these properly without hassle on a Windows OS computer that the MAC lacks?

Really only the core logic would carry over, large portions of ATR would need to be rewritten to interface with all of the devices and ui etc. The effort likely isn't massive, they already did it with the AP manager, but definitely not trivial.

What I am trying to understand is. What software that Windows uses to Make ATR/AP work that MAC does not have. Ie. A windows computer has microsoft office to view edit and make all kinds of Documents via. Word, excell and etc. but to do the same with a MAC you have to Install Microsoft Office. Im pretty computer savvy but everything you just said is kind of jibberish to me! lol

ATR is written from scratch, so it's written to interface with devices and UIs via the Windows way of doing things. Microsoft rewrote large portions of Office to release a Mac version. Basically what that jibberish says is, dual boot or run a VM

Dealing with the tables is the easy part...rewriting the GUI and the USB drivers is the hard part. The USB part is done, but the GUI work remains, as well as lots of bits and pieces that would have to be translated over. It would have been nice if they had done all the software in Java, that ports pretty easy (except hardware interfacing, that can be a real bitch), but the recent security issues with Java makes it better that it wasn't done in Java.

Odds are doing this is on a list somewhere, they do have a lot of stuff done already that can translate over. It's just a matter of priorities and time allocation, and it's not going to be something they will put at the top of the pile (and rightly so, and this is coming from a Mac user).
