COBB AP End of Life

This past week, I got a notice in my email from COBB which got my attention:

"The time has finally come. The V2 Accessport was a game-changing device in the DIY tuning community when it was introduced over a decade ago, but its days are now officially numbered. Starting on 1/1/19, all further support of any kind for the V2 Accessport will cease.

What does that mean exactly?
•The V2 to V3 Trade-in Program will end 12/31/2018.
•New requests for Accesstuner will no longer be offered to V2 users. Currently installed software versions will remain active for current users.
•A “Golden” version of Accessport Manager will be hosted and available to all users but future versions of APM may be incompatible.
•Future Windows compatibility is not guaranteed and if Microsoft releases an update that breaks software, there will be no fix on our end.
•V2 Accessport service and repairs have already ceased prior to this announcement.
•ECUs that have been bricked while using a V2 can still be recovered by our Repairs Department, but the V2 will not be serviced."

For those of us who are heavily invested in the AP/ATR family of products, this is probably something worth mulling over. For me, this was the push to get me to upgrade my v2 to v3.

Yeah if this ever happens to the V3 I’m done. Or if anything happens to my V3 I am going to make the switch. Not bothering with it right now because it ain’t broke but I am starting to see the advantages of versatune.

This is just more bullshit from Cobb.

What effort is required to maintain the already exisiting software for current owners? Why stop customer paid repairs of a product when parts are readily available.

Just another cash grab from a company that has decided our platform isnt worth the effort.

Looks like it will work in Cobb's favor.

It's kinda interesting, based on the price of the V3 right now, and Versatuner right now, the Versatuner package is maybe $110-$120 more than a V2->V3 upgrade

If I were in this situation, this would be a good time to switch.

I guess I'll be taking advantage of the black friday sale and just have both for a little while.

What's an AP 2b with matching ATR software worth on the secondhand market? I was going to wait until I sold my AP to buy versatune, but I can't unmarry it until I get my car back together.

Versatune is ordered. Can anyone point me to some versatune big turbo tuning guides? I built my AP tune from scratch so I not clueless, but my car has been down for a while so I'm a little rusty.

There's some threads, one by @Enki; I think, on how the tables map over between AP and VT. As long as you had a hybrid or load based tune, that should be good to go. Otherwise, use any of the load tuning posts and just map the tables referenced. If you can't find it, I'll go look for that thread later.
