leaking transmission

A few weeks ago, I changed the oil in my MS3 for the first time since it was imported and noticed that there seemed to be oil residue/leakage around the transmission housing. Could it be a worn seal? at present the car has done just over 102k km, and i am planning to change the timing belt and sometime next year upgrade the engine mounts..

Probably the shaft pivot seal, my 6 is doing the same thing.

How to is for the Speed 6, it's a little easier with a 3.

it depend where the oil is coming from, pivot seal, axles seal or else ?

there is no timing belt but a chain, it could be loose and need replacement. you can found infos on the how too vvt thread but you will see it isn,t an easy job and on a second gen, you do it only when it is loose.

i bought a belf for the alternator the day. but is definitely oil residue by the tranny. More towards the bottom end. noticed it when I was changing the oil.

The car has just done 103k km and i can imagine now is the time to update alot of things on it including seals etc.

It was axle seals for my Speed6.

If the breather near the pivot shaft seal is clogged / bad, fluid will blow past the pivot shaft seal. If you replace one, I would just do both.

clean it with brake cleaner and check again in a week to see where it comes from.

btw check fluid level asap to make sure there is enough

When you say fluid level what fluid are you refering to?

You talk about transmission leak...it would be logic to check fluid level on what it is leaking
