Notchy Shifting

I'm new to this forum but not new to working on my own cars. I recently bought a 2010 MS3 and the shifting was notchy from day 1, definitely not a smooth shifting car. I installed a JBR short shift kit with metal shifter plate bushings hoping to improve my shifting. Nope, JBR kit actually made the shifting stiffer.

Today, I flushed the coolant system and changed the transmission fluid with Redline full synthetic MTL 75W80. I went for a quick run, I can't believe how much smoother my MS3 shifts.

Bottom line, if your MS3 shifting is a little stiff and/or notchy try changing your transmission fluid it may make a huge improvement in how your car shifts. It did on my MS3.

RMM, changed mine yesterday and noticed a huge difference in shifting feel.

RMM and PMM made the difference for me. I flushed and filled with the popular Ford Trans fluid, didn't help the clunkiness between gears as much as I'd expected.

What fluid before the change? I ah e the Ford XT-M5-QS full syn, very clunky, hate it. Will i see a improvement with a change to Redline?

I bought the car used so I don't know what the PO had in the transmission. IMO, I would go with the Redline MTL trans oil.

This car just has a notchy shifter, you can minimize it, but I never really got rid of it. I saw the largest improvements from RMM and counterweights. I had the full shifter replacement from TWM which made the shifts much more precise, but if anything it made the notchiness a little more apparent. Still worth it though =)
Try the Redline, a lot of people swear by it
