Stock vs Aftermarket downpipe

Is there any big benefit from buying a aftermarket downpipe compared to stock? I'm just wondering if I can spend the money elsewhere.

gotta love the support around here for the fellow memebers. I have search around this forum already and seen the threads regarding downpipes and did not get a good enough answer. I am new to cars in modifying etc. so GIVE ME A BREAK.

Depends on your current mods, mainly if you plan on upgrading the fuel pump internals. Personally I am currently making good power with stock dp. No dyno #'s but trapped 108mph in the 1/4 with supporting mods.

Chill dude... Just razzing you. This topic has been covered a thousand times and it has been determined that the downpipe is one of the best mods, when tuned for and properly supported, to free up horsepower with these cars. Our giving you a hard time is because you asked a question that hasn't only been asked, it had been beat to death. Any time you do that here, expect a little razzing. No big deal, just read a little more and move on. We've all caught shit and been noobs. That being said...

Mod list/order:
1.RMM
2.Intake
3.AP
4.Fuel pump
5.Anything else your little heart desires. I recommend pro tune and downpipe at the same time.

i had Intake, TIP, internals, TP, exhaust, AP base stage 2 and was around 260ish.

Now i got a Full catless CP-e DP with a tweeked AP tune making around 290ish to 300 WHP

OK...I'm going to try and redirect this thread. I've done some searching on this forum and the "others" to try and find a good solid answer to this question.

I've been looking at getting a Downpipe myself (yes, I actually believe the gains are worth it), but I've been wondering if anybody has any hard data, not mere opinions, about the flow characteristics of aftermarket catted vs. catless DPs.

I know people are going to say that catless it the way to go, but I am somewhat concerned about emissions.

I'm running nice and strong using a TP with the stock DP. If your on a budget just do that.
Yes, the aftermarket DP is a worthwhile mod. Yes, it will make more power.

I'm personally not worried about a aftermarket DP until I'm out of warranty. (not to mention its cold in Ohio and I don't wanna be under the car right now) On the other hand, I have plans to go with a V-band DP once I go BT, so id rather not have to buy a DP twice. However, do get a PERM tune!
