Default Getting some corn in the diet

I finally have some time to devote to getting a proper E85 tune going. So after absorbing some words of wisdom from @ms3blackmica; I made the appropriate changes to my 93 map, and filled up with a 25% mix. Below are the initial results. I realize it's somewhat of an apples to oranges comparison between these logs, being there is a ~50 degree difference in ambient temps, but I just wanted to see where I'm at before I start ramping up boost and timing. The only other changes were the addition of a 3-port EBCS, and boost levels dialed back slightly.

Any input/feedback is welcomed.

Once again, a big thank you to Nishan for setting me up with my initial tune, and for the knowledge he continues to impart upon myself and our community.

Bump in the road? That's a really odd looking torque curve.

Most likely wheelspin. Roads here are still somewhat icy/snowy, but even on dry sections, she is eager to break traction. Shitty all-seasons don't help either. Going to try and get better logs as conditions improve.

Got one with no wheel spin. Slightly more realistic numbers.

Now to find MBT!

I'll add more as the iterations come.

Considering doing the same once I install my internals. Wondering what kind of horsepower increase you can get from just putting some e85 in.

E85 is proven to have huge gains over a 93 map. It is also a good knock protectant.
Some guys that are running the K04 and bolt-ons are in the 320 range.

if you search in this section or the ECU tuning section, there are some logs/dynos of the 2013's being tuned with some corn, intake and internals that are getting close or right on the dot for 300HP...throw a DP/TP and you're probably over 300HP at that point..

As you can see from the second graph I posted, just dumping in some Eth will give you great protection against knock, but it won't yield instant power results, or anything significant at least.

Power gains will come from tuning, I.E ramping up boost and timing. I have a 2nd revision ready to flash and log, but unfortunately it's snowing right now, so WOT logging is out. As soon as the roads are dry, I'll post another graph from the new iteration and hopefully it will demonstrate some gains.

6-8? I wish we only got 6-8". We had about 9" over-night (measured by dog) and 12" by the time it all stopped. Hopefully this rain takes the sting out before it starts up again tonight.

On the plus side, the MS3 with a set of Blizzaks makes short work out of wet snow. Can't have any high-speed fun, but it's easy to get up to e-brake turn speeds. Or drive up a 12% grade.

You can expand your JBR collection in a few months when he releases the FMIC piping kit, just score yourself a TR6 or TR8 core.

I managed to do a few quick revisions tonight and netted some gains. I think it's fairly close to the knock limit on this setup as instances of KR ~2 start to appear up top (hence the afr dip).

The next move is getting a 3" intake and increasing the mix to 30%.

It's unusual for me to see KR at 5K rpm, it's usually at spool and at or above 6K, but I squeeze an extra half gallon of Eth in during the winter months because of winter blended E70. You aren't just getting less alcohol, you're getting more 87 octane filler trash. My AFRs are slightly richer so I don't worry too much about being off my mix by a little bit.

You should roost around in 3rd gear and monitor KR to see if you're getting any more blips like that or if it was just an anomaly. It looks like a bump / rattle to me - usually I get another tidbit of knock as I'm winding it out if it's not enough corn, and your log cleaned up completely.

It's unusual for me as well. I normally see the 0.35 - 0.7 counts if anything. That's why I'm thinking it's legit knock.

I richened the AFR up top a bit and pulled .5* to see if that quells it when I grab more logs later.

Also I just realized that's the wrong log (it was late).

This is the log associated with that last graph.

Thanks for the input man.

That looks a lot more like insufficient octane. A bit surprising you're not getting more timing out of it, but fuel varies so much it's hard to really say what "25%" blends will yield.

Your K04 is holding boost *really* well at high RPM, so I'd definitely be tapering in more fuel to keep the cylinder temps in check - it's probably contributing to your knock.

Just installed the 3" intake and I'm currently dialing the MAF in.

Initial results look good, and I got rid of a huge bottleneck. I was only able to flow around 290 g/s before, now I can see upwards of 330. Calculated load took a big jump also, it peaks at around 2.7 now!

Moar graphs soon!

Question, without a lot of research before asking, how much of that flow gain was from the PNP IM vs the DP?

I'm running a 3.5" HTP with a cp-e tmic and test pipe, and that only nets me 290 g/s. After talking with @rfinkle2 I was planning on CBE/DP next to gain more flow. But those Relentless powder coated manifolds do look sexy. Any idea how much of an increase in flow you saw just from the pnp im?

Going to search for other results now.

I would post some comparative logs for you but my old laptop's HD is fried. From what I can recall the PNP did net some modest gains in flow, between 5-10 g/s, and this is most likely because the VTCS flappers were deleted. Remember, the purpose of a PNP on this IM is to BALANCE flow rates across the runners, not necessarily increase it.

If your having trouble breaking 300 g/s with a 3.5" intake, I would definitely look to your exhaust setup as the bottleneck.

Catless ftw!

Remember, the purpose of a PNP on this IM is to BALANCE flow rates across the runners, not necessarily increase it.

If your having trouble breaking 300 g/s with a 3.5" intake, I would definitely look to your exhaust setup as the bottleneck.

Catless ftw!
I'll agree with this. I'm seeing 314g/s consistently from 4600rpm up with 3.5" intake, upgraded tmic and DP and 3" cb-e

IMO g/s comparison between cars or even different MAF cals is pointless. I can change my MAF curve 15% up top, show 15% more g/s adn my AFR's etc. will all be spot on (assuming I don't go over 2.5 load)

It is moreso dependent on your calibration than anything. There is a hidden "OL" fuel trim taking place in the background.
