Default CorkSport LED Rear Bumper Lights

Didn't someone do a DYI on corksport-led-rear-bumper-lights ??? I thought I read one on here but cant seem to find the DYI anymore. I did my install last summer and thought I'd throw out the info for anyone interested.

Anyways! Wanted to add that you can put a Trailer Wiring harness on it to give full functionality of the LED Strips... Trainer Wiring Harness

Without the harness, the LED Strips can be Wired to Either your Brake Lights OR blinkers but not both. With the Harness you have full functionality.. ie Brake and turn signal at the same time.. One will be bright, other Blinking, etc..

Just do yourself a Favor and DO NOT use the inline splice clips that come with the LED kit.. Had to go back and re-wire everything due to bad splices using the clips.

Let me know if anyone wants a Video of the LED strips working.

Still searching for the old one before I do. Possible I read it somewhere else. I just wish I would have taken pictures of everything when I did my install.. Rear bumper Removal is a pain!! But will have to at least draw out a wiring diagram for everyone.

Just do a write up. Even if there is another one it could probably use updating. I've had these led lights sitting in my dorm room for months, its about time I get to putting them on and I want to do it right

I submitted the product to CorkSport as the only readily available ones were from some shady e-bay seller and the price was much higher (like $90 shipped I want to say). They put together good instructions and I added a few things before they posted it to their website for download.

I didn't use the splice clip either, in fact my trial led reflectors didn't even come with them. I went straight to the license plate light and haven't had any problems in over a year.

I'm curious if the blinker one would be sync'd up or if the lights would be out of time.. that would drive me insane. I didn't want to bother with it. Smoked reflectors with a plastidip'd valence is the way to go!!

A buddy of mine in MOCC has them hooked up as lights, brake lights, and turn signals. They sync just fine. In every aspect of their use, their not as bright as the rest of our tail lights. But I and he don't think they're Corksport's as he bought them off eBay from (someone?/someplace?). But regardless, they came with the wiring to hook them up with all three functions. And like I said, the turn signal aspect sync's just fine. I fucking want them! C'mon @CorkSport; HOOK A BROTHA UP!!!

The best way to connect is solder and heat shrink. Not everyone has solder and heat shrink so the splices come in to play.

The set we sell is wired so you can use them as markers and brakelights or turn signals. The response time on LEDs is really good so I dont see any sync problems with the lights.

Do you have one of our calendars? There is a code in there to save 50% off with the purchase of another part on any of the LED products we offer. If you dont have one of the calendars get one, there is a deal each month.

Good call on using the trailer harness! I actually have one of these Curt Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring for Mazda 3 2010 - C56011 that I'm going to use when I pull my ATV ( along with the hidden hitch of course).

I'll just get another end and solder it onto the bumper lights and plug it into that. And I'll just unhook them when I'm pulling the trailer.

Can't wait for the weather to get nice so I can really start working on my car again...

Will this particular harness allow for hook up of all three functions (tail light, brake light, & turn signal)? And would you need 2 of them? (One for each Corksport reflector replacement?)

Yep, I don't see why not. And nope, one adapter should be all you would need.

I've attached a diagram showing what wire would do what coming off of that Curt adapter.

Ok! Someone asked for a video of the tail lights and here they are. Ignore the water mark, had to convert the videos from m4v to mp4... phew! Anyways!
First video is to give you a idea how they look during the day (both videos recored around 6pm Eastern) The 2nd Video I backed into the garage a little to give you a better idea how they look in the dark. Somewhat low quality to keep the file sizes down.

Note: As I was saying before in the thread I had to use a trailer harness, but those of you that have normal bulbs may not have to. The directions that come with the LED strips say EITHER brake or Turn signals if I remember correctly, but could be wrong. One last thing.. If you do install the kit, DO NOT use the dam wire splices!! they will cause you a massive headache trying to figure out why its not working... (Yes.. Been there, and spent another hour or so redoing it all the hard but correct way)

btw, I did a combination with lights on and off. left, right, left w/ brake, right w/ brake, and hazards. These are Not smoked.

Can you do a video that walks through how you wired it up? Or at least showcase how you wired it up?

How are these different from the ones on eBay? I already got one from eBay and I'm not happy with the build quality. Some of the LEDs don't light up evenly or it's pointing downwards.

Sole where's my chopsticks?

Unfortunately I do not have a video or step by step directions, I wish I would have made one when I did mine. Doing one now would consist of me taking the whole rear end of the car apart which is hard to find time for.
The Corksport LEDs do come with some very good directions, but will have to admit that the install is a pain and there's no short cuts. You WILL need to jack up the rear end and put it up on jack stands. The next step is to remove BOTH rear wheels (hence the jack stands). Think this is why most people buy them and save them for a day when they have a lot of spare time. ( Don't be a idiot.. USE Jack stands... )

The Biggest advise I can give is DO NOT use the spice kits that come with the LED strips. I figured i'd save myself time by using them and found that they were not making good connections / splices. Therefore had to go back and do it the right way.. a lot of wire cutting, stripping and re-splicing. Basically use the same splices you would use for stereos.

As I stated before, using a trailer wiring harness will allow your LED strips to work as normal tail lights, brake, and blinker as in the video above. Link to the wiring harness is also above. I am not sure if you will need these if you have normal tail lights ( My tail lights are LED due to tech package ).

I do not know anything about the e-bay version, but I have yet to have any problems with any of the LEDs on the Corksport ones.

Im pleased with mine, minus the pain of the install. Some people say its a waste of money, me personally, I like'em. That and if you ever get rear ended (before you hit'em with a tire iron) you can ask them which of the 5 brake lights did they not see.. hehe..

Wired up some quick disconnect plugs for my bumper lights, in case I ever have the need to pull of the bumper.
