I had OEM tires (Yokohama) on my car with 61,313 miles. If I lived in an area with no snow, and better roads (less pot holes, fuck these roads), I could have probably gotten 70k miles on the OEM set.

I hit a nasty pothole about two weeks ago, which caused a nice sized bubble in my driver front tire.

So this past Saturday, 03/17/18 I went to Mavis Tire and had Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 tires installed. I had them pre ordered 5 days before. One of my friends used to work at the shop, and I know the shop manager, so I had 100 knocked off the bill (this was the overhead/stock charge, yes roughly 20-25 per tire).

With tax, mount/balance, road hazard warranty, I spent $826 total.

Road noise from these tires is very minimal. They grip very well, in dry, wet and even snow/ice conditions. Yes I already put these tires through a noreaster.

Right when I got the tires installed, I left and jumped onto the highway. Shifting through the gears, the car rode very smooth, and I barely noticed, but I look down at the speedo and realized I was doing 100 mph already.

I highly recommend these tires so far. I just hope I get the same mileage as my OEM set, especially if I keep up with rotations every oil change (5k miles).

For those TLDR; Great traction in dry, wet, snow/ice (not as good as winter tires though obviously). Tread wear should be great on these also.

I'm about 46K into a set of these tires and am down to the "D" imprint. In the last rain storm here, I had my first experience with hydro-planning on these tires. So, I guess when Continental states "D" for dry condition traction, they aren't kidding.

I suspect I'll get another 4-5K and then be ready for a new set. The Conti's have been consistently better than the OEM Dunlop garbage mine came with.

As the tires have worn, the road noise has progressively picked up (expected considering the tire grooves wear down).

Thanks for the reply. Yes as with any tire, there will be more road noise over the life of the tire as the tread wears down.

Also how bad was the rain? Where in the country are you? How fast were you going?

Our roads here in NY/Long Island are very shitty for the amount of taxes we pay. Most of the time I am driving I have to avoid massive pot holes.

Part of the reason that the DWSs are so quiet is that they have a suprisingly soft sidewall. I will never own another pair of them, as I've had bubbles form in the sidewalls just from hitting a small pothole.

If that happens then so be it. That is why I went for the road hazard warranty. I have been more careful avoiding pot holes and shitty roads in general.

No, but NY is quite shitty, do not underestimate the shitty NY roads and infrastructure!

I'm here in SOCAL. I was driving about 65mph on the freeway with small patches of standing water with a light drizzle when I experienced the mild hydroplanning. Out here, because it rains so infrequently, oil builds up on the road surface ND doesn't wash off unless it rains hard.

As to the sidewall softness, it was a factor I took into account when I purchased the tires. I don't track the car and tend to drive like grandma in sections of town where I know the roads are crappy.

At the time I bought them (after a month or so of research) I thought they were a good compromise between performance and projected lifespan. I still do and will be purchasing another set when the current ones hit the end of their life.

There are plenty of good discussions in the forum about tires and I used it extensively to help inform my decision.

Great thank you for the update. Ya I forgot it does not rain as much for you out there in Cali. Over here in NY we get a decent amount of rain/snow.
