Default Need some advice on cheap wheels

I just had some new DWS 06 put on my stock wheels and then 2 weeks later I'm noticing steering wheel vibration on the highway. I bring it back and now they tell me 3 out of 4 wheels are bent and 2 of them pretty badly.

I'm concerned about the bent wheels ruining my new tires so seems like I should replace them. Just saw how expensive OEM wheels are. I'm concerned if I buy used wheels off ebay they might also be bent. What are some cheaper solutions? Are there any relatively cheap wheels out there that you guys recommend?

I have the same issue with one of my wheels on my MS6. Its bent but balanced out ok.

Its not the tires you need to be concerned with wearing out. Its the added stress to the suspension and axle assembly from the increased vibes at certain speeds.

Anyhow, look for aftermarket wheels that fit on craigslist or the facebook forums. Wheels are not something you want to cheap out on. You don't want your wheel to break when you hit a pothole. And cheap wheels are also very heavy compared to OEM.

I plan to get a set of VMR V810 or V710FF wheels. Both are flow formed and a couple pounds lighter than stock and reasonably priced for how light they are. 18x8.5 ET45 is the size I plan to run.

Lots of other options but stick to quality wheels.

Thanks for the info. They rotated my wheels to the worst ones are in the back and I am no longer getting any vibrating. Do you think I should be trying to replace these wheels ASAP? What is considered a reasonable price for wheels for this car?

The guy could have also sucked at balancing a tire. I've had that before. If they weren't vibrating with the old tires and the old tires do not have any abnormal wear patterns present and you don't see any cracks in the rim you may just want to get it rebalanced somewhere else.

I didn't notice any vibration on the old ones, but they did have an abnormal wear pattern on the inside edge of the tires. I forget which ones now but it was more than one. They showed me one of the tires that was bent. They put it on this machine where they manually spin it and I could see a very subtle wobble when watching the wheel closely and they also showed me a flat spot on the inside edge of the wheel.

Not sure where you're located, but there are two sets of GenPu wheels on FB in the Carolinas for 350/set.

Like ThorHammer, I'm looking at 18x8.5+45, but TWS Nurburgring. They look nearly identical, are flow formed blah blah, and a few pounds lighter each than the VMR's. They also look nearly identical to Enkei Raijin.

What color are you considering? I like those wheels but not the color options. I want hyper silver. VMR will paint your wheels any color you want and bore the hub to your specification.

Just for reference:

Stock wheel: 23.5 lbs.
TSW Nürburgring 18x8.5: 19.5 lbs.
V710 18x8.5: 22.5 lbs.
V710FF 19x8.5: 22.6 lbs. (they don't make the V710FF in 18", only 19)
V810 18x8.5: 20.8 lbs.
