The Dunlops on the pu were absolutely not all-season tires. They were awful in the snow. I've since had two sets of high-performance all seasons and a set of winter tires, and the Dunlops definitely outperformed them all on dry pavement, and were useless in the snow.

The all seasons I had were crappy in the snow, too, but manageable. The Falken winter tires I'm running now have served me really well with all the snow we've had this winter.

I would never part with money for anything that said "All-season" in the description.
I also wouldn't buy anything less than star specs in the Dunlop line.

I'm about to wrap-up my second winter on stock rims with Pirelli Winter Sottozero Serie II and I have no complaints. Last winter wasn't very snowy in the Chicago burbs, but this winter has been and, even though they showed last year's wear, they've been excellent in deep snow and on 'skating rink' icy roads. It's likely that this is the last winter that I'll get out of them, but I'm fairly sure that I'll be getting new Pirellis next November.

I have the Sottos too, 205 55 16. Hardly any road noise and plenty of traction. I just couldn't keep using the Dunlops, my driveway is at the bottom of a hill and if there was even 1/4" of slush on the road I simply couldn't make it up.

I prefer to make my money last a little longer since I burn through summer tires in no time. Yeah, it's a sacrifice in performance, but the wife already gets annoyed at the fact that I buy even all-seasons just about every year.

I know this is an old thread, but the info was super helpful to me and my son as he just bought his MS3 last year. Had the same problem this week as others have had re ordering steel rims without TPMS. Found this info on another forum that I didn't see on this forum, it helped me, so just passing it on.

The 2006 Ford Fusion was available without TPMS as an option. Same exact steel wheel specs as recommended for the MS3. 16x6.5 steel wheels with a +42 offset in a 5x114.3 bolt pattern with a 67.1 hub diameter.

I know there is another workaround mentioned on another thread, but found this one to be super helpful too. You'll have to cut and paste into a search engine. This is where I got the tip on the Fusion wheels.

be carefull with steel wheels, maybe oem ones may fit as oem mags of any 16inch mazda but aftermarket may not clear front brakes, especially new brakes.....

and you can always replace tpms with a rubber valve or the opposite.
