I'm in the process of navy enlistment although someone in the air force has been trying to convince me to switch branch.

If you go air force, you won't be disappointed. As long as you aren't a cop or a cook. Either way, hell yeah, good on you for enlisting. Good luck!

Now you're complaining about having to spend $25 to get good used/new parts, cheaper.

That's basically true. The 'other' forum is better anyway, I stay here only for the lulz. And occasionally for encyclopedic purposes. But mostly for the lulz.

Not to derail this incredibly informative post, but I am curious why you feel the other place is better. I am rarely there simply because there are rarely any new posts, let alone new posts that haven't already been discussed here. Plus, I do not internet well and it seems much more difficult to navigate and figure things out on that forum.

Personally, I think both kinda suck at the moment (lacking new information or development, and have less traffic than before) and the other place only sped up the decline of this place.

kinda funny- I do most of my surfing during the day. This place isn't blocked, I guess because it's a shining example of wholesomeness and all that's good (/sarcasm), but the other one is blocked like your poop after seconds on the mac & cheese...

Dead platform is dead. Nothing really new to discuss on either site. The average owner has more than enough information on either site to make informed decisions. We have that 1% that are continuing their crusade to have the fastest xyz but they aren't really developing anything "new" so to speak, just finding and pushing the limits of what is already out there.

And every blue moon we get that random troll or butt mad user that thinks they deserve to be treated a different way on an internet forum for whatever self-righteous reason they come up with. I don't care about any of you, you're all a bunch of cat loving fagz <3

Not developing anything new?

http://www.mazdaspeedforum.org/forum/foru...ipslip-201371/

Granted, I did post it there too.

Just saying, the platform isn't really dead. How long did it take for the Honda market to grow as large as it is? Longer than we've had to push this platform.

Congrats.

Most vendors offer a military discount, FYI. You may have to call to get it, but most do offer one.

Congrats!
May she treat you well & bring you lot's of enjoyment!

If the PO has ATR, the tuning software for the AP, you may want to get it from him- Cobb isn't currently allowing downloads of it and it's unknown what exactly they're changing or when it'll be released to the public again.

Granted, I did post it there too.

Just saying, the platform isn't really dead. How long did it take for the Honda market to grow as large as it is? Longer than we've had to push this platform.
The Honda market has grown the way it has IMO because it's actually a really good performance platform. We OTOH can't engineer away our relatively poor suspension geometry and high weight.

The intake manifold is one of three emerging intake manifold options we have (I count the CP-E as one of those due to the complete lack of information on it), and not really a transformative mod on its own, although I admit the PI if implemented well could be.

Yeah but Honda continues to manufacture their sport variants. They're even bringing over the Type R so in that regard it's keeping the market fresh. I understand that many want to cling to this idea that the speed platform isn't dying, but it is. That's the nature of the beast when a car isn't manufactured for over 3 years and that gap continues to widen with really no end in sight. One intake manifold development is far from what I what call a thriving platform but like I said, there are things happening just nothing that a majority of speed owners would consider.

I'm not here to convince you or anyone really what the platform is doing. I've made good friends through this platform and I have no real complaints about anything development wise. I have what I need, where I need it and when I need it so speaking for only myself, I'm content whether its dying or thriving.

I always found this forum difficult to navigate, and due to a bunch of factors I find the other easier to navigate. Also there's no "thanks" button as well as "like" LOL. And the other forum listens to its users, has fun raffles, and is adding new vendors. Traffic wise, actually my local NATOR has largely switched over except a smattering of n00bs. I'll give you that generally more useful development type stuff happens here, mostly because I happen to be in the right geographical area to possibly be able to help in the higher-volume injector activities. And there are definitely certain threads I refer to that only exist here. But frankly, while I appreciate the lulz, the aggressive attitude here never really sat right with me - sure I deal with it, that's kinda the point right, but that's not the same as feeling good about it or thinking it actually makes anything better.

While there's a tremendous amount of information about the platform here, I've always had to dig and dig and dig. It always seemed like a waste of time, especially when the search function went useless, and sometimes I still missed a critical piece of the puzzle or was misled by what I read. No harm no foul, really, as I've not lost a lot of time or money due to any of it and it's not as though I harbor ill will toward the place. But once I got past the "where am I going with this" and "I need the damn shop manual" phases, there just doesn't seem to be a reason to not stay brown. The sales sections are not that amazing on either site really, and in fact my last 2 or 3 major purchases for my car have been on FB. While I would have preferred and perhaps felt safer doing it on one of the sites, the transactions went very well such that I've really no complaints.

Would I prefer that this site go away? Hell no. But I think a site that collected all the encyclopedic knowledge of the platform in an organized and useful fashion, and maintained it well, might be "better" than either one. Especially if it could do a good job of promoting a sense of community amongst Speed owners, maybe even between speed owners and other auto enthusiast communities rather than just making most of them think we're a huge pile of turd coated assholes.

I'll derail a bit further and note that I guess I missed meeting you at EMWNM last year. Hopefully we can rectify that at this year's edition.

Nah, I'm perfectly happy with being myself. I don't care because you are nothing to me, and never will be.
Still confused as to what a rainbow humper is. I've seen rainbows before, never tried humping them, but maybe it's possible? Since you seem to be the expert here, maybe you can tell us the exact definition of a "rainbow humper".

The last sentence doesn't even make sense, kind of like your existence here.

And to @deathpunch;, you should seriously get a compression test done. 25,000+ miles, already modded with an AP but no internals, slightly worrysome. Want to make sure that engine is healthy before adding more parts.

Search function won't work on my phone. Do you know the compression values? I might grab a gauge and some new plugs today.

Edit: Nevermind, found them.

Shop manual says above 130psi within 28psi.

Around 180 is about common for healthy motors, and most of us prefer to be closer to 10% variation between cylinder.

Update for those curious:

Compression test came back muy bueno. All cylinders 165-175. Replaced plugs with the stage 1 recommended iridium ix's, and popped the filter off and blasted the seafoam spray past the maf while the wife stood on the zoom pedal. So far, this car is awesome. Thanks for your help, everyone!

Corksport internals are the best option imo. Comes with more parts so you don't have to reuse the stock ones.

What would make AT internals easier to install? Isn't the process the same across all brands? I didn't find the CS internals to be all that difficult, just slightly time consuming because I kept double- and triple-checking the instructions before completing each step; hardest part was that the OEM sleeve was gummed up and didn't want to come off.

You don't need any tools or hammers to install the stock style retainer like CS uses. The AT internals just use keepers like a valve/valve spring. Just slide the internals in, stick the keepers in, and you're done.

CPE one is the definitely easiest since its the full fuel pump, but it's pricey. Just remove and replace.

I just went with the spark plug thread. Since I'm at stage 1, I went with the stage one recommended.

Those aren't stage 1 plugs...they're 1 step colder. There's a difference. An important one. You don't need step colder plugs until you're at least bolted and tuned, a number of guys claim great results running stock heat range plugs on BT setups.
