Default Thinking about getting a 2013 speed3 (upgraded intercooler from mazda?)
Just test drove a 2013 Mazdaspeed 3. Its a quick little guy! The dealer was telling me they offered an upgraded intercooler from Mazda that upped the hp to 300. Does this sound right I can't see anything on Mazda's website about it? I'm really debating between this car and a 2005 Pontiac GTO (I know totally different car.) The GTO just feels like a grown up car and is a little faster stock for sure, but you can't beat having a full warranty and the fuel economy of the 3... Any ideas on this intercooler thing would be great! Thanks!

Wow, that's some really shady shit... Intercooler gains are pretty minimal. Do not do that.

A lot of dealers actually sell Corksport products and it wouldn't be hard on a dynapack or some shit to make it look like 30 extra hp at redline.

From my experiences dealers know little to nothing about the cars they sell.


1. Buy MS3
2. READ EVERYTHING ABOUT YOUR CAR HERE
3. Donate for the knowledge you now have and for access to for sale section
4. Buy parts (Including new IC)
5. Win races against V8s

Former GTO owner here. The car has plenty of merits, but, like you mentioned, two pretty different vehicles. Should be a healthy gap in the price, too. Let me know if you have any questions on the GTO.

Seems like the intercooler statement has been adequately addressed.
