Default P2009 Code

Hello everyone new member here to the forums I am finishing up on a 2010 Mazda Speed 3 with 70K miles its all stock except a secondary cat or resonator delete. The car keeps throwing a P2009 code and the local AutoZone cleared the code and told me i needed a new VVT Solenoid which was made by DURALAST Part # TS 1004 which i already purchased for 52.63. What i guess I am asking is this going to fix the code that keeps coming up? Also how hard is it to change out this Solenoid? It looks like i am going to have to remover the valve cover to do this if so could anyone please direct me to a link or video showing me how to do this and once this is finished i will make someone on here the deal of a century on a Mazda Speed 3. The reason I say that is that i have a 2015 Beetle i need to get fixed and sold to pay for my Nursing School.

Click this link. It will open a search box for this forum that works quite well. I wouldn't use anything but OEM for the VVT. YMMV.

STOP!

Autozone doesn't know anything about our cars.

P2009 is " variable tumble control system solenoid valve circuit low input"

This is an indication that your Variable Tumble Control System (VTCS) is not functioning properly. It has absolutely nothing to do with the VVT actuator. The VTCS system is a set of flapper valves mounted to a rod that passes through each of the intake manifold runners. There is a small sensor switch that often fails because it contacts a small piece of plastic that, over time, weakens and breaks off.

Here's an image of the parts that I'm talking about: Now what..P2006

(Incidentally, P2004, P2006, and P2009 are all failure modes for the VTCS system.)

DO NOT, under ANY circumstances, do anything with your VVT unless you are 100% sure that the VVT is bad. It's an expensive ($1100+) service, and you do not need to perform it if the code is really P2009.

My car just did this the other day. I talked to the Mazda service guy about it and he said there is a sensor that could be the problem or this flapper problem. I bought the sendor part and If that does not work, I am going to do the flapper service.
