I'm amazed by the idiocy of members on the M247 forum making false accusations that the Mazda flag was defaced by a MSF member. Furthermore, what these idiots fail to mention is, the 2010 Epic East Coast Mazda Meet which was sponsored by MSF, also had Subaru, Mitsubishi, Honda and various other platform owners in attendance. Where is the evidence pointed to a MSF member defacing the Mazda flag? There is none... Its just assumptions by a group of haters who just want to hate.

Why the hate? For obvious reasons it could be:

Well, hopefully this will be read before judgment / action taken. Posted this over on M247 under "The Great Desecration:"


Hey all.

I'd like to start off by apologizing for bringing up what very well may be a dead issue, despite only being initially discussed yesterday. I understand that the mods wanted this out of the General thread, so I've posted a new one in easy-to-clean format.

For those still interested in cleaning up the flag or at least mucking up that part of it to deface the defacement, dry-erase marker will dissolve permanent marker ink on most surfaces. I'm sure at least some of you are aware that nail polish remover is the secret ingredient in dry-erase markers, so that may work as a removal agent as well.

Obviously, you'll want to test this on a very small part of the same kind of fabric/surface (a dot in the corner should suffice), but this DOES work on all surfaces that do not "hold" dry erase ink (some plastics won't erase without some sort of solvent, for instance).

With the useful bit out of the way, I'd like to voice my opinion on the matter at hand. While I am a donating member (and daily reader) of the forums some/most/all of you loathe so much (MSF, for those not in the know), the general consensus over on that side is that the leap of logic on the part of an unnamed poster here is reprehensible at best. I am also aware that there were other people present at said meet whom were not Mazda drivers, let alone enthusiasts, which makes this determination even more baffling.

Is there any evidence to suggest that someone from MSF committed this heinous act? Were there people there that were not a member of any Mazda group? Could those people have been there to "crash the party" so to speak?

And now for the most difficult question to ponder:
Is there anyone here (M247) with strong enough feelings towards MSF to do this themselves just so they can point the finger? I don't intend this to be accusatory, I merely wish to broaden perspectives.

Disputes between forums is one thing, but desecrating the Mazda logo is not something an enthusiast would do, in my opinion.

If the thread is deemed worthy to survive the next few minutes, I ask responders to please make sure that any replies remain civil and exploratory, not accusatory.

I can understand where you're coming from philly, and I'm more than happy to state my case.

My brown name - I didn't bother to renew my VIP status because with me on my way out of the Mazda community, I'm slowly moving away from things. Does this mean I won't donate again? No, not totally. I just am more concerned with parting the car out and moving on to other forums. I spend a lot less time on ALL the Mazda forums, not just MSF. Even as a moderator over on 247, I don't get on as much as I used to. Truth be told, I've spent more time researching the 5.0 and the potential it has, as well as getting my shit straight with other things offline.
