Default Aluminum adapter stuck...inside the knob

Hey all. I have a heavy shift knob (JBR cylindrical). Love the damn thing.

Removed it and the adapter came with it - it's stuck inside the knob. I was thinking of using some loctite, put it on the stock shifter assembly and leave it for 5 mins at room temperature, then remove it and hope that the adapter stays behind.

Is this something that anybody has run into before?

Try the Loctite, sounds like a good idea.

Thanks Jamie. Can I also safely loctite the adapter to my shifter stalk after I get it out? No issues? (by this, I mean my TWM shifter stalk. The OEM shifter stalk is sitting in a box ATM. )

Yes I think that'll be fine.

Just to update... the loctite solution works. Word of caution: use loctite 262 sparingly. One, maybe two drops is all you need. Screw the knob onto the shifter stalk at room temperature, and wait 5 minutes. Unscrew the knob and the adapter will be left behind. Immediately grab a wrench or socket and remove that adapter or it will be stuck to the shifter stalk. Soak adapter in alcohol or something, and clean the inside thoroughly before reusing it.

Definitely sounds like it could be a hit or miss situation. Glad it worked for you though.

I had this issue with my last knob, used a giant Allen key and lightly tapped it inside the adapter and then twisted it out. Surprisingly, it didn't fuck up any of the threads at all.
