(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score James Barone Racing Performance Aftermarket Parts & Accessories JBR EGR Block Off Plate Kit for the CX7, MAZDASPEED 3 and MAZDASPEED 6. The most inexpensive way to keep carbon and soot build up from occurring the DISI engine. Cut from .062 thick 5052 aluminum this plate kit is tough enough to do the job but not so thick that you have to fight with the EGR tube or run the risk of stripping bolts during re-installation. Not only does it allow you to block off the EGR, with the included plug you can completely remove the EGR tube making the installation easier and much less time consuming too. $20.00 Shipped in the US. International shipping is available. Link to Product Page ![]() ![]() Link to Product Page Last edited by JBR; 07-22-2012 at 07:05 AM. |

I'd be surprised if the cel still showed. I ordered the block off, and after installing will remember to post the result.

Not too familiar with where "toggles" is located in ATR, at least the one i have, but i ordered this today and need to get this on my map. CEL's drive me batshit crazy. If someone could maybe do a screenshot or something and point me in the right direction I'd really appreciate it.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I'm pretty sure this used to be the way clearing the codes with the AP worked before one of the updates late last year or early this year. With the latest firmware, clearing the engine codes in ATR works as it should: no CEL, no internal code reported. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score CEL does NOT show. No light, nothing shows. I also heard this before I did it, and it is false information. If you untoggle a CEL in ATR it will not show once you have flashed that map to the ECU

| Not Ranked : 0 score This looks like a really simple but necessary mod to keep your engine cleaner inside. Just ordered one! Question, is the plate intended to be used inline with the egr pipe without the plug OR with only the plate and plug and no egr pipe. IF we want to use it in line so that the guys at the emissions place don't notice anything different, will we need to use some type of sealant on the back of the plate to keep from getting air leaks into the intake manifold? Thanks for making a cheap simple fix for our cars! *any idea how long we should expect it to take to get these?

| Not Ranked : 0 score Not sure if i am the first person to use this kit on a MS6 but according to your websight it should work. Well, i have taken everything apart to get in there, and now i am finding that the plug dosent fit. I dont know if i am missing something obvious, but i was under the impresion the plug was to replace the fitting on the Intake manifold, and the fitting at the end of the egr pipe is considerably larger than the plug, you said the plug was a .5" but it looks like it needs to be something more like 1.0". If anyone has any ideas, PLEASE, post them!!! ![]() Thanks, ELi

| Not Ranked : 0 score This is a little off topic but with the gasket sealer are you supposed to put it on the surface to be sealed, put it in place and wait for it to dry for a while before torquing down, or do you put it on, put everything together and torque right away? I did the later on my Camaro intake manifold, and it leaks a bit of oil, not sure if i just didn't do a great job, or if i was supposed to let the sealant dry a bit into more of a gasket, then torque everything down. Thanks!

| Not Ranked : 0 score My experience with sealant is limited, I recommended it because when I did the EGR delete I torqued everything down hard and still had a leak. I went back to stock and just put it on the stock hose with my finger haha. If I remember the tube directions you apply a continuous bead around the plate (in this instance) finger tighten the bolts, then torque it after it dries.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Well looks like I F'd up. There appears to have been an error in communication between me and my wife. Looks like we sent out the kits with the jamb intended for a shift knob instead of the correct one for the EGR kit. We'll be sending out the proper plug to those that have already purchased the kit Monday. Eli I know this does nothing for you right now but I will make it up to you. My sincerest apologies. Jamie |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Alright, crisis averted. I went out and got some of the copper gasket sealer, put it on both sides of the plate and gasket and put everything back together using the plate along with the pipe. Everything seems to be as it should. And i noticed no problems associate with the plate thickness, so i am inclined to say, this thinner plate along with some gasket sealant alleviates all concerns of leaking. On a side note, i was able to disconnect the cai, and hold back the tip with a piece of wire and not have to remove it. I did pull the battery/tray, and i pulled the tb to clean it, without removing any of the coolant lines so i didn't have to worry about any draining of coolant. All in all a bit of a pain in the ass, but it could have been worse. **note: Be careful while trying to remove the lower fitting of the EGR pipe. When i finally broke mine loose, the wrench swung and broke off the nipple at the top of my radiator. I superglued it back on figuring there is no pressure in that pipe, and i am praying i don't end up needing to replace the entire radiator. BE CAREFUL!! -Eli

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score OK so here's the scoop on the plugs. As mentioned above I sent out the wrong plugs. Yesterday as I was preparing to send out the correct plugs I noticed the thread pitch indicated on the box was wrong so after further investigation, sure enough it is wrong. 1.25 instead of 1.5. I did some more research and I my have found found an even better plug. I will have a couple at the end of the week. If it works out like I expect it should; it will be well worth the wait. So if you have recently ordered an EGR kit I'm gonna hold it until the plugs arrive. If you have the kit already I will send you the right plug just as soon as possible. Sorry guys. Thanks, Jamie |

You are obviously doing all you can. I'd just like to remind people that what you make is sure to fit, and be an upgrade over stock. I certainly won't let a simple mistake keep me from buying any of your pieces in the future. All anyone has to do is look @ a few reviews of your RSB, shift kit, shift knob etc., and they will find your products are top of the line, as is your customer service.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Just so it's clear, as far as using a sealant/gasket maker - you'll want to put something on the threaded plug for the mani (in addition to the block off plate), if you're not using the stock pipe. If you don't I can pretty much assure you you'll be leaking out of that plug. |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Great news folks! Just got the new plug today and just finished installing it. It's a perfect fit and looks so factory it's incredible. Put a little red RTV on the threads and your good to go. Here's a pic of it installed. I will have them in bulk on Thursday and they'll be sent out to everyone then. Jamie |

| Not Ranked : 0 score so since this will block off and omit the pipe, does the valve stop functioning? since the gases have no where to go?
